My daughter, her two little daughters and I went to Fusion Sushi tonight for dinner. We are vegetarians and found there were plenty of choices. The seaweed salad was generous and very tasty as was the various veggie sushi. We went there because a friend told us they will make sushi with brown rice, which they did. The only problem we had was that they were pretty slow bringing us simple things like a bowl of rice for the hungry two and three year olds. That doesn't work with little kids but it's probably not fair to expect a sushi place to be particularly kid friendly. I'll go back, but not with little kids!

Really really bad service and the food was nasty....I rather prefer bai plus..

I know, I know. The service is not the greatest and the food quality is not always consistent. They are such a giant restaurant that you never really know which sushi chef is going to be preparing your food. If you want to catch this place at a good time than go between the hours of 2-6 to avoid the heavy crowds and shoddy service. Also, they have 2 for 1 sake bombs on certain days of the week and alot of different specials. Cant go wrong with that.

Good local place. Check out restaurants.com for gc's. This can make for some good eating at a good price. BTW, they have a hilarious birthday song. Good for those that want to embarrass their friends

came here with a large group (almost 20 people) for a birthday, and the service was good, fish was fresh, and we all left absolutely stuffed. the inside is better than the outside...at first upon arriving, i took one look and though "uh oh, strip mall sushi...", but not so. my husband dared to get a rainbow roll and some sashimi, and all of the fish was great and very fresh. upon finding out that the quality was good, i promptly stole 1/2 of his sushi. the prices are fair, and some rolls are as cheap as $3. i'd for sure come here again. although, they don't split the tab, so bring cash if you're in a big group!

Upon the recommendation of an acquaintance, we decided to try this restaurant. We were very disappointed. One could buy better sushi from Von's. The fish was not fresh. The Toro was dry and they were very skimpy with the amount of fish used in the sashimi. Even the vegetables were past their prime. The avocado on one of the specialty rolls was brown and watery. (I've never seen a runny avocado?!) The asparagus in the vegetable roll tasted like a fish bowl smells. What a bummer! Moreover, the prices were not reasonable. If you want to eat good sushi in the Long Beach area, head over to Koi in Seal Beach.

I went here to use the restaurants.com coupon. I almost did not go in because the corrective action required after an inspection was food safety and food temperature. I decided to play it safe and order cooked items... soft shell crab (very good), mussels (good) and the hot and hot roll (ok, would not order it again - tuna ends up too cooked and it has a sweet sauce that does not taste good with it). The most disturbing part of the experience was... as I sat there in a nearly empty restaurant... the sushi chefs proceeded to cover the top of the sushi bar (which is quite long) with huge chunks of raw salmon and left it unattended. I can see why food temp was an issue. The staff were not terribly friendly and look annoyed when I had a request. There was one chef that came over right before I left....who I liked very much... he was warm and engaging. Too bad everyone else up until then had an attitude. I won't be returning.

Great selection, innovative offerings, quick service, friendly help. Most menu items are under $10, combination dinners $11-20. Good teriyaki, tempura, and appetizers choices for your friends who don't like sushi.

Love this place...for the area, it's decor is wonderful, but the important thing is the sushi, YUM and be sure to ask for a sake bomb! Price is right - just go, you'll enjoy it and be glad you did!

I visited the restaurant about six months ago and noticed I received an upset stomach due to their overzealous approach to sauce everything with different flavored mayonnaise. I figured the cause for my stomachache could be due to other food, so I went again. A group of friends and I ate here within the last month to the dismay of all five of our stomachs. We had to frequent the bathroom within 1-2 hours of our sushi/sashima meal. If your stomach is tough and you avoid their various mayonnaise sauces, enjoy!

I've been meaning to write a review for a while now (and this is my first review, very excited!). My husband and I moved to the neighborhood in Feb. '07 and starting going to Fusion soon after that (our friends also go a lot and had recommended it). That is when the love began! We love Fusion Sushi! We are addicted to it! We go once a week if our schedule allows! The food is great and good quality, nice/fun atmosphere and we LOVE the servers! We have become friends with a lot of them since we go so much. Just be friendly with them and they will be friendly to you too and before you know it, you will be buds! We have tried all kinds of things and have loved pretty much everything...including the fun special stuff they bring or suggest for us. We have also introduced a lot of our friends to Fusion and they love it as well! And I think it's a great deal for what you get. Oh, and try the Long Beach Iced Tea (Soju cocktail)...it's my favorite! Or not, because I don't want them to run out of Soju when I'm there! =) So in conclusion, definitely give this place a try...be adventurous in your ordering, be extra outgoing with your servers, enjoy the atmosphere and you will be rating this place with 5 starts in no time!

I reallllllly don't like this place. I've been a couple times and the first time it was okay but the second was terrible. I went with a couple friends and we ordered three rolls to go. It wasn't that crowded and we didn't think that it was a very big request. It took an hour from the time the employee printed the receipt until the time we actually had our food in hand. They messed up one order and it took another 15 minutes to re-do it. We asked to speak to a manager but the employee refused and gave us a cup of ice cream instead. They charge the same price as most places for their spider roll except theirs only has soft shell crab on the outside and has fake crab on the inside pieces. I also got a Tropical roll which was supposed to be a California roll with mango and a special sauce but the California roll didn't have avocado. A California roll without avocado is not a California roll. I was very disappointed with my entire experience and will not be returning. I do, however, LOVE sushi studio and their new restaurant I luv sushi; so if you're looking for great sushi and good service go there.

Had a great lunch this afternoon! They have daily half roll specials, so you're able to go out on a limb and try something out of your comfort zone. One of the half roll specials was the Tornado Roll. I loved it! It has crispy potato strings on the outer layer...delicious! A big bonus was the awesome children's bento box for $7.50. One of the best kid's meals I've ever seen.

I will be reviewing this restaurant for it's decor, service, food quality, and price. Decor (5): The design of the restaurant is sushi bar centric. All of the tables, chairs, and booths surround the sushi bar which is great because it shortens the trip of the sushi from chef to table. The temperature of the sushi can drastically change the flavor and this floor plan ensures the minimal distance that can cause temperature change. The restaurant seats over 100 including tables and sushi bar, which isn't massive, but is far better at handling high volumes than the smaller sushi studios around. I love booths and this restaurant had VERY comfortable booths. Yes! Please note that we did not experience a long wait during our visit and we had a party of 20 on father's day at 1:30 pm. Service (4.5): There were 33 patrons, 2 chefs, and 2 waitresses. It seemed under staffed for father's day, but the restaurant wasn't as full as I was expecting either. Considering that we had a table of 20 people, I want to be sure that I specify it is very hard to manage a table that size. She was attentive. She brought out our drinks quickly. More importantly, she brought out our BEER quickly haha. She removed our plates a few minutes after we finished our sushi. The chefs prepared the food quickly. She forgot 1 out of the 22 items, but was great about canceling the order. The bill came out quickly, got processed quickly and we were out the door without any unnecessary waiting. Food Quality (3.5): I ordered the baked scallop roll. The scallops were tough and not very flavorful. It was bland. I was very disappointed. On the other hand, the teriyaki chicken was flavor blasted and tasted amazing. Price: The rolls were reasonably priced for the local sushi market. We didn't come during happy hour and didn't get any discounts. The average price of a roll was $11.00.

Food: This place still has the freshest platter of sushi/sashimi in town, no doubt. We have not tasted anything on the menu that was not delightful. My current fave is the garlicky Gaesha Roll. Service: Dinnertime has the best crew and you can't compare the excellent service during dinner to the often mediocre service during the day (of course, dinner course items on the menu are more expensive too haha!). Overall, we love Fusion Sushi! Honest & hardworking staff, excellent food... thumbs up!

Fusion sushi is a delightful and happening spot near my high school alma mater. It is a great place for sushi and they know what they are doing. The staff is very friendly and helpful. For our Saturday evening we were welcomed by Rachel. They seated us in a booth and oh it was so comfy. I was with my grandmother and my wife. To start us off we were treated to a comped edamama beans. My wife and I shared a Kirin beer. Nice and cold, I must say. We ordered 2 half roll specials for $5 each. The love and kamikaze. They also brought us miso soup and we also received our free fried gyoza cor checking into Yelp. Salmon teriyaki for grandma for her main and Uni sushi for me and my wife to top it all off. We entertained the idea of having dessert but we were so full that we had to pass. My fellow Yelpers please come into Fusion Sushi; they are great, efficient, and they serve, fresh awesome sushi.

Omg my fav sushi place in LB. They have an awesome assortment of sushi options. I prefer crunchy rolls and they had like an entire page of choices

  • Alexis D.

I have been coming to Fusion Sushi for years, ever since they opened! The location is very convenient in suburban Long Beach CA, just a short drive from the LB town center where there are many shops and a movie theater. The restaurant itself is nice as soon as you walk in, large and open. There are a couple booths as you walk in by the window, but the rest are booths against the wall that spans the restaurant, some tables, and bar seating. At any time of day, there are always people inside eating. The staff is always friendly there, and ready to help you ASAP. They have GREAT daily specials on rolls, and also wonderful lunch time steals. The quality of their food is also top notch. Everything from their salads, miso soup, teriyaki salmon filets, and large selection of fresh sushi is supreme. I am an AVID sushi lover, and the quality of the fish at Fusion NEVER disappoints; not to mention the fact they don't skimp out on the portions of fish by adding too much rice like some places do. This is a great place for everything from a nice dinner date, to a family outing.

Great place for sushi. 1st check in gets you a 2 piece gyoza appetizer...For those that also want other options to eat, they have good menu choices. I got the Bulgolgi, which was bomb. Customer service is also prime. They were attentive and very quick to respond to our requests, especially the refills on the bottomless drinks! This was my second time here, first time as a Yelp!'r and I intend to come back! Kirin and Sapporo on tap, so I need to come back when I am not driving.... Make sure you sign up for their free "Fusion Sushi Rewards" Club. My fiancé got her card punch and is almost to the $10 reward... Oh yeah, finish it off with their selection of Macaron Ice Cream and just a scoop of green tea ice cream...

  • Jacqueline B.

Yum, yum, yum!!! I toooootally recommend the Final Fantasy Roll (crab heaven) and the strawberry macaroon ice cream sandwich (it's worth saving room)

  • Mis F.

I love this place and it's close to my house. Rolls are awesome here and they have beer on tap. I'm A huge uni fan and you have to check if they have or not. Great for lunch or dinner and they have a fusion sushi credit which gives you 10% towards your next order. I think it's 10%.

  • Smaly K.

I thought the sushi was pretty good. The rolls were good sizes with a good amount of the fillings. The spider roll was my favorite. They had a lot of interesting sounding rolls, some I've never seen anywhere else before.

Definitely a fan of this place!! This place is yummy for anyone's tummy! If you are eating in their quaint little restaurant or picking up food to go, you will not be disappointed. Place gets pretty busy at nights and weekends but service is still really great! All of their rolls are very tasty and always beautifully decorated/displayed. When you look at their menu (pictures are included for each of their fusion special rolls and chef special rolls ) and when you get the rolls...it looks just like the pictures. Normally, you end up ordering something because it looks so good on their menu but when it shows up at the table, you are duped and majorly disappointed! However, Fusions food looks just like they advertise and it tastes fantastic! Everything that we have ever ordered has been great and there is always left-overs! They have a huge assortment of different rolls and regular type kitchen food. So you will definitely be able to find something to suite anyone's tastes buds! To top it off, you have to get the sake sampler...you can't go wrong! Also, you have to love that you always get a 5% cash back reward to be used on your next purchase or you can keep racking up the 5% savings and use it whenever you want. Great way, to get me to keep coming back...even though I would come back anyways.

The service here was good, got greeted and didn't turn me down at the last hour the store was open. I have ordered the beef teriyaki bento as well as the sushi but I found either too be a bit pricey. The only thing to mention is that the slices for fish are kinda big, which I like but know I've had just a bit more sushi and a lot more options at other revolving sushi places. I do love their ice cream macron sandwichs.

  • Miguel L.

Their fish is always fresh & the Giesha roll is amazing! Came here for dinner with a large group. The servers did a great job attending to our needs and our food came out relatively fast. Splitting the check was a non issue, even though several changes had to be made. They offer 1 free miso soup per person, and don't forget to try the fried green tea ice cream.

We come here every year for our anniversary dinner in July and love the chefs special and tempura sushi rolls. My favorites include the rainbow roll, energy roll, lady in red roll, baked scallops roll, spider roll, and fried green tea ice-cream. I love how they have half rolls so that we can try a variety of rolls.

We use to frequent this place a few years ago. My grandmother lived only a few blocks away so in the event she was to tired or sick to join us we just honed her. Anyhow my 81 yo grandmother was extremely picky but really love them. Pros: Local, you can call in order for pick up. Kid friendly I think the prices are a bit high but I guess everything has gone up. Negative: Small

Oh Fusion Sushi, how do I love thee-let me count the ways (no really let me count them). 1. Baby Lobster Roll (drooling just thinking about it) (in: California roll/out: baked baby lobster, scallion, smelt egg) 2. Godzilla Roll (in: unagi, crabmeat, spicy tuna, avocado/out: unagi, crunch, soy paper) 3. Mexican Roll (in: crab meat, jalapeño, cilantro, onion/out: spicy tuna, albacore) 4. Spicy Lobster Roll (in: spicy tuna/out: spicy baked baby lobster, smelt egg) 5 Hungry Roll (in: spicy albacore, shrimp tempura/out: crab shred, popcorn shrimp, avocado) (making me hungry just thinking about it) 6. Super Crunch Roll (in: shrimp tempura, crab meat/out: tiger shrimp, avocado, crunch) 7 Aloha Roll (in: spicy tuna, mango/out: avocado, baked pineapple) Those are just some of my must have rolls I highly highly commend them specially the spicy baby lobster and Godzilla...yummmmmm!! As for sushi they have about 9+/- different kinds of tuna, I usually just stick with the yellow tail... double yummmmmmm!! This little unassuming hole in the wall tucked inside the Stater Brothers shopping strip next to Yum Yum donuts is one of the best sushi place I've been to in my short 20yr life (wink wink)...yes darn it 20 and I'm sticking to it! The service is unparalleled all the servers are amazingly friendly an proficient. The Itamae's are skilled at their craft and my stomach can vouch for that. The restaurant itself is immaculate with simple trendy dark and lime green decor. They also have a nice variety of Sake and for the sports fanatic they have two large flat screens that are always playing sports (boooooo!!) I absolutely love love love Fusion Sushi, if you're in the LBC area and are craving some raw delicious fish stop on by. I am conflicted about one thing...recently I discovered that they serve blue fin tuna (though I'm not sure if it's Atlantic bluefin which would be the most endangered of the bluefins) which upset me but in retrospect all that delicious food not only got my mind off the subject but made up for it. If you're a hardcore environmentalist well I'm not sure what you would be doing at a sushi place but you might want to pass on this one. For everyone else check this place out...oh let me not forget they have "Happy Hour" special and weekly specials on 1/2 rolls which usually average about 4-5 pieces around $5.00+/- . Also if you're a Long Beach resident keep and eye on your junk mail, they offer some good coupon deals.

I've had both good and bad experiences here throughout the years. The good being that the food is decent and the prices are considerably reasonable. The bad being there have been terribly rude waiters who do not understand what customer service means. There was one experience with the ultimate dream team of waitresses where we were ignored for most of the meal. I would ask for water and 10 minutes later still no water. When the bill came we decided to just quickly pay and leave since we had had such a terrible meal. Some miscalculations ended with an exact amount and no extra tip added. I had not intended to do that but now thinking back it was really the right thing to do... anyway, the waitress ran after us and stopped us right before the door telling us we had not given them tip. Who does that? Despite that, I have been back just because it's so close to where we live but it was a good year after that bad experience before we returned. Would I recommend it? It's always one of my last choices now.

Service: Got here and half the restaurant was open but they would not seat is. They kept telling us 15 more min, 15 more min. What's the point of having so many tables if they won't even seat you. The workers were not too nice about it either. It seemed like all they cared about was going home. Food: Happy hour is 4-6 every day. They have half roll specials also. It's different rolls each day. The food is great quality. They have a great selection of rolls. Location: The place is pretty big. They have booths, tables, and a sushi bar. Even with all the space though, they still would not seat us right away. They insisted on making us wait. Price: The regular prices for the rolls are quite pricey in my opinion. The half roll specials they have are pretty good though. I probably would not come back for the regular priced rolls.

The sushi was ok, nothing spectacular. We prefer sushi Kara, less expensive and better service. The service was horrible on both occasions. This place is a pass, go to sushi Kara or I love sushi.

Very satisfied customer!! Just happened to drive by and I was craving sushi so I figured I would try it and I'm glad I did! Very excellent customer service! The rolls are generously made... They are definitely not cheap with their food. I ordered the zen roll. Very fresh. The spicy edamame was delicious and not too spicy. Coming back for happy hour!!!

  • Sevgi S.

I'd give them a 5 if the service wasn't absolutely terrible! I LOVE the food. Super crunch roll is amazing. Complimentary edamame and sometimes miso soup. I'm not sure when they give it for free lol but it's happened a couple times. It's a bit pricy but I think it's worth it. Don't come here if you're in a rush because with their slow service (even if it's not crowded) you won't be leaving anytime soon.

  • Tiffany S.

I used to love this place...but today it was terrible. Food and service. Seriously, everything we ordered except maybe the miso. TERRIBLE. I usually eat sushi on my side of town at 39 degrees. I'll stick to that place from now on.

Fusion Sushi delivers great sushi in large portions. Every roll we have tried has been delicious and the service is polite. Fusion also is bigger than it looks with a row of booths in addition a sushi bar. The decor has a fun feel to it and they do have 3 flat screen tv to watch sports (make sure you sit in the back for best view). As far as Lakewood and Long Beach sushi goes this has to be my favorite.

Fave place to eat. We come here everyweek. The poke bowl is the bomb. There food is always fresh. I love the grilled yellow tail. The ppl are always nice :) I totally recommend this place for some fresh sushi and everything we order is always good.

I'm a sushi fanatic. I was on my way to another sushi place but wasn't going to make it on time. Got on yelp and found thita place was open till 11pm. Headed over there and was not disappointed. The food was fantastic and the service was great. It was also reasonably priced. I usually remember what I order but as of this writing, I'm drawing a blank, lol. I will be back and take pictures. I recommend this place.

This place is freaking awesome. I turned my boyfriend on to sushi when we went to a place in Lake Tahoe. We tried to find a place that's as good. After numerous places, this is absolutely the best sushi places in the long beach area. There customer service is excellent

OK here goes.... 3 Stars for a solid sushi experience. I had the Hungry Roll (pictured) and for those who want a tempura experience with their sushi, I recommend this roll. The tempura popcorn shrimp were crispy, golden fried, and airy light. The crab sheds on top of the sushi added some yumminess as well. The roll was very flavorful. I also tried the Hot and Hot roll. It had cream cheese and jalapeño peppers. This was also really tasty with a great kick. The atmosphere of the restaurant was modern classy with a dash of kitchiness. As evidenced be the giant lucky cat statue that greets you at the entrance. So why only 3 stars? Well this place is expensive for what you get. I've had comparable sushi (mama's sushi in Lakewood) that's just as good and much cheaper. Also the table next to ours was Un bussed the entire time we were there. Gross! Also, it sounded like the owners were huge Kelly Clarkson fans as three of her hits played while we were there. Don't get me wrong she's my favorite Idol winner, but I would have liked more variety. Verdict: a good back up spot if your usual sushi spot is not easily available.

First review ever written. Can't believe how awful the service was here. Brought my boyfriend for a celebratory dinner because he loves sushi so much and they say they're open until 11pm on a Friday night. We arrived at 10pm and ordered an appetizer. 30 seconds later they immediately came over and told us it was last call for food and drinks. We felt extremely rushed and ordered on a whim without even viewing the entire menu. Within 5 minutes they brought everything at once which made our apps cold and we hadn't even had a full drink yet. Whoever gets their food all at once?!? We were forced to even with multiple people present. SO RUDE. if you don't want to be open until the hours you specify then change your hours. There were so many people here but I've never felt so rushed in my life especially when you're paying over $100 for ur meal I expect to not feel like I don't even remember what I ate because all I'm seeing are the bored servers standing around looking at us waiting to pick up plates, chefs turning off televisions so all we did was sit and watch black screens. DISGUSTING DONT COME HERE. THEY DONT DESERVE YOUR BUSINESS.

Came here last night about an hour before closing around 9:30. It was Valentines Day so I expected the place to be still really packed. At first we were delighted to see that there were tables open and only a few other diners in the restaurant, around 15 people. Then as we walked in we were met by one of the staff, I'm assuming a hostess or waitress who told us that they were closed. My boyfriend and and I gave her a puzzled look since we had just checked the sign on the window saying they were open til 10:30. She then went on to say that they ran out of food. I'm sorry, but I call bullsh**! Supposedly you're "out of food" but the 7-8 other tables of people inside the restaurant still are magically eating? This is my final straw with the service at this place. I won't be back.

I love this place. I always sit at the bar right in front of my favorite sushi chef. I've yet to have a problem with the fish never encountered any funny smell or weird taste. The chef sometimes prepares these little meat desserts for me and my boyfriend which I always get a kick out of since everywhere else I've been they have never tried to go the extra mile for you. I will continue to come to fusion for the great service I've always been lucky to experience and the excellent food I've always received.

This place is great! The edemame was the best I've ever had. The miso soup was also very good. We ordered the daily special half rolls and they gave you a lot for what you pay ($5.95) and then we ordered some fusion rolls. We had a good sized nice meal for 2 people for about $25. The atmosphere is also great and they were very quick and had great service. We went for dinner at 6pm and it was fantastic, so we will definitely be coming back!

We have been coming here for many years and have never had any issues until recently. We arrived at 7:30 and were seated shortly after. We ordered our food and drinks fairly quick and the drinks were delivered in a timely manor. After about 30 mins of waiting and seeing a lot of other orders (dine in and take out) being delivered we inquired about our food. The waitress told us we would have it shortly, due to the fact they were "backed up on orders". We decided not to wait any longer and got up to leave. One of the other waitresses said to us "the printing machine had jammed and your order was never printed out". Not one time in the 30 mins after we ordered did anyone come to check on us. That was our last time coming to Fusion Sushi, the quality of service and food has been on the decline for a while now and it is just not worth it anymore. Super disappointed!

This place has gone to the dumps. The sushi was fishy and nowhere near fresh. The only thing that was decent was the blue fin. The sushi rice was old, dry, and hard. The short ribs were a rip off. They brought me another rib, but it was still not worth it to me... Very salty and skimpy. Service was okay... Still needs improvement. I am never coming here again. NO BUENO.

Fusion Sushi in LB is a solid sushi restaurant. The sushi is always fresh and they have a great selection of rolls and other menu items. The service is top notch and the decor is appealing, especially the large booths. I've never been disappointed here.

This place is my favorite! Some of best sushi I've ever had. My friend and I are regulars. The fish is always fresh and delicious. They unfortunately raised the prices recently but they have also added some more new rolls as well as entrees. Recently they have gotten some ice cream macaroon sandwiches and they always look so colorfully tempting. They have a good special on beer I can't remember if it is Tuesday or Monday though. Make sure and come here on your birthday for a special surprise!

I love this place. Great portions. Absolutely phenomenal sushi. I crave it so often and Everytime I come I leave happy. The menu has several items I love so I change it up when I come in. Their sushi lunch combo is a great amount of food for $16. Edamame, miso, 4 sushi, and any specialty roll of your choice! That's hard to beat.

Went here for the happy hour. Prices are reasonable. Quality is good. We ordered from the happy hour menu & selected half rolls from the weekly menu. We got all 4 of the Thursday rolls. They were quick & polite. The ice cream macarons were delicious. We got the green tea & cappuccino.

This was our third time back to Fusion Sushi in Long Beach. The first time was pleasing. Service was good and the food was good. The salmon steak teriyaki was huge compared to other restaurants, which serve the standard filet cut, and the taste was good. Miss soup was tasty. Price was good. The second time, service was good, food taste was good and price the same (comparable). The third time, service was slow, food taste good. Myself and brother in law received our meals first, and my sister and wife waited for at least another 20 minutes to receive their dinners. The restaurant wasn't that busy and can't be the reason for the delay, my best guess was their order was missed by the kitchen staff. As a goodwill gesture, we were given complimentary ice cream. We appreciated the gesture but that didn't excuse the delay of their food. Overall they are good so hopefully when we come back for the fourth visit my rating will increase.

This is our regular spot. We have tried several sushi places in long beach and this is our favorite. Fish tastes fresh. Reasonable prices. Always leave satisfied and full!

I love this place. My gf loves this place. The people, the food, the service... All spectacular. And the zinger is, the price has always been reasonable. The new menu pricing is too high! I want to come back, but I won't at these prices. A calamari roll used to be $7.99 and now its $9.99. A crunch roll is $12.99. Bring the prices down by 15% and they would be where they should be. When you do, let me know and I'll be back!

I've been to Fusion Sushi a couple of times now and I finally decided to give them a review. I give them a 5 star review because every time I come here, I'm always greeted nicely and sat right away, even of it's full. We were sat in a table and then we changed our minds to sit in a booth and they sat us in a booth right away. The food is very delicious, I recommend the baby lobster roll. It's one of my favorites. Their happy hour is awesome too and I believe on Tuesdays they have a special; Buy a large beer and get the other one for only $0.25 not bad at all. The atmosphere is nice. I like going here because at times it's family oriented and at times it's a mature mid 20's to 30's crowd depending on what time you go. It's never really loud or obnoxious. I like it, sometimes it's nice to go somewhere and just relax and eat. I hope my review is helpful :)

This is my all time favorite Sushi place in the area! It really does help that it's about a 3 minute drive from my house. Good food, good vibes, and great service.

Their rolls are unbeatable!! So many options it's almost impossible to choose, my favorites so far are the Alaska and Snowcone. I would avoid the soju cocktails (the alcohol flavor tends to be too strong to be a good blended drink ) Their boats are also good, there is one meat with a sweeter flavor my family isn't a fan of though. Overall a favorite spot for a good family meal, but for an authentic sushi experience not necessarily the place to go.

Had the opportunity to hit this place up over the holiday weekend. We ordered "The Lady In Red" sushi and the "Aloha". Honestly, I thought the rolls were average and I wasn't a fan of whatever the sauce was they put on either. BUT, one positive thing I will say is that the staff there were super, super, super friendly and accomodating. Like seriously. We received friendly and attentive service and because of that, I'm willing to go back another time and see if there is something that more suits my tastebuds seeing as this was only my first visit. Make sure you ask for the Miso soup or it won't come. I guess you need to request it to receive it for free. Also, it was very affordable. We had the 2 rolls, Cold Sake (we shared), the Miso soup and edamame and our total with tax was about $38. Not too shabby!

Not the greatest sushi unless you like mayo. Way too much mayo on the rolls. Anything with crab will be covered in it. Not very happy that I have to leave 3-4 of my ill on the plate. The menu doesn't even mention your food will be covered in mayo.

First time visiting this and quite some distance from where I live but came here on a friend's recommendation. The sushi was fresh and great presentation. We also had a variety if rolls. It took a little longer than expected to get the rolls, but they brought us some miso soup to pass the time. (Which was yummy) I loved that they have big screen tvs to watch the game, only downfall was the kids running around and screaming.

My friend raved about this place, asked if I'd like to go for lunch. I am pretty particular about where I eat sushi, RAW fish!!!! Walked in had a nice vibe, didn't sit at the sushi bar my fiend wanted a table, we had 3 of the half orders, and 2 rolls cucumber salad.. Ice tea and water.. Everything looked good and tasted good.. 2 hours later after getting home I was throwing up outta both ends... SERIOUS FOOD POISONING... Had to call off work today!!! I'm a pastry chef have worked in kitchens for 14 years and out of all my time spent in kitchens and around food and trying new restaurants I have never in my life have gotten that sick from food, first time from sushi... So with that being said this place is a big HELL NO... And please please clean your habits up in the kitchen for fuck sack your serving ppl raw fish!!!!! Will never go here again and will tell ppl best stick to your spot! Daimon sushi!!!!

Great service, clean pretty restaurant and most important the food is delicious. There are many varieties of sushi to choose from, aside from the sushi bar. They have happy hour (3:00-5:00) delicious high quality drinks as well like sake. It is a little on the pricey side though, but you pay for quality.

: ( Worst service!!! Visit Fusion Sushi on 5/17/2015 Service is worst I've ever experienced. After getting seated it took 30 mins for someone to bring a menu to our table & offer us something to drink. I've eaten at this Resturant once before & service was okay. After ordering our food it took 45 mins to get our appetizer & a another 30 mins to get our food & we ordered them at the same time. Waitress was poor not attentive. We only ordered an appetizer of Tempura shrimp & a California roll. I ask for the Manager & she said they were gone for the day. They only work mornings. I complained to her & she just gave me a bill to pay no apology. All employees were standing around talking not working. Resturant wasn't crowded so poor excuse for bad service. I guess when the boss is away no one works. I'll never eat again @ Fusion Sushi in Long Beach Ca on Spring St. : (

Stopped for a late lunch. You are always greeted as soon as you walk in the door. If you are in a rush have a seat at the sushi bar. Sushi chefs are friendly and attentive. Waiter and waitresss attentivr. It wasn't very busy. They also havr great lunch specials. Someone ordered a crab salad that looked scrumdeliumptious which I will try next time I am here. I had the baby lobstet roll and miso soup. Edamae was free and was just the righr amount. Love this place will return. Make sure you take advantage of there rewards program if you don't have a card ask your server about getting one. It takes some time to build up your credit but once you do it is worth it. Enjoy

We hadn't been here in a couple of years because the poor service and mediocre food. I'm glad we tried it again. The service is better, and the food is way better. The sushi chef was very friendly and quick, even though it's a busy Saturday night. We're glad we gave them a second chance.

The only reason we came to Fusion Sushi was because the husband received a Restaurant.com coupon as a gift. We went in thinking that we were going to enjoy a cheap sushi dinner because of the coupon but we somehow ended up with a $60 bill. Seriously don't know how that happened but the lesson from now on is to "READ THE FINE PRINT" because we always somehow end up spending instead of saving with these coupons, lol. We came on a weeknight after work and the restaurant was fairly packed. Service was very average, neither friendly or unfriendly. Our server was ok, she came over, took our order, food arrived, and she came by once to check up on us, nothing over the top. Food was also average, we ordered four rolls and finished it quickly. Wouldn't come out of our way to visit this restaurant, but also wouldn't mind if I'm in the area.

Oh San Francisco, you've made me into a sushi snob...sort of. Came here a couple weeks ago for dinner with a friend. He's been here before and recommended coming here. He also picked our sushi, good job! We got the Bora Luau Island (no rice aka all protein! win!), Sashimi salad & a Salmon & Tuna hand roll. I really liked the Bora Luau Island a lot. It's basically a spicy tuna roll minus the rice and has veggies & scallop...so good! We split the sashimi salad (very healthy & tasty!), which I'm glad we did because if we each got our own, I don't think I would have been able to finish it. The servings are big enough to split with another person. Overall, the sushi here is fresh and very tasty. Although, the wasabi was missing...or maybe it was hidden. Oh well! The restaurant is small, cozy and very quiet. There was no wait and the staff was very friendly. The waitress was very nice, however, it took her awhile to check-in on us to see how we were doing with our meal.

Teriyaki Chicken is da BOMB! Excellent service here. It's like the waitress knew what I wanted before I said it! She also took the time to make recommendations as I was flipping through the menu. That Mexican Roll she recommended was awesome-sauce. I'm coming back tonight!

This is a local delicious sushi bar... The best in Long Beach! Their food is fresh & well prepared, believe me you will not be disappointed! The staff is friendly and prompt. Yeay! Although its always busy, the staff will find a way to accommodate their guests, and make the wait go by fast, by bringing you edamame, or some finger foods while you wait, "on the house;" pretty cool :) So when I need a sushi fix quick, I go here. Thank you all at Fusion Sushi!

Food = pretty good. Service = Slow even when it was not busy Menu = Confusing and limited. They had lunch specials, where we wanted the roll from the lunch but for dinner (didn't expect the price to be the lunch price, just wanted the roll at a dinner price) and they said no. Didn't get the roll I ordered. The sushi isn't bad by any means, and the price is ok, the experience was so slow, and awkward I cannot justify giving this place more than 2 stars. The biggest part for me in going to a restaurant is to experience great service since I usually cook at home 25 days a month, and this did not offer that.

    (2)
  • Courtney S.

The food here is great. But the service sucks. They are slow and if you get things off the half rolls they don't ask if you want a full or half and just give you a full.

Best sushi place in Long Beach. Better then sushi on fire, the hip cool sushi studio, sushi saurus, wokcano, Koi, ect. Portions are very large and the service is great (your never a stranger twice kinda place). Also priced very well considering quality and size.

The service here is wonderful! My friend and I got salad and an orange cut cutely like a little piggy on the house! I ordered a Aloha roll and it was all right. It probably wasn't my preference but I'm definitely going back to try more.

Came here with the family when visiting Cali. The service here is great! So friendly and attentive~ Food is delicious...some sushi rolls were a bit heavier than I am used to, but delicious nonetheless. But such variety~ I had many favorites~ To top it all off...we even got free ice cream!

Found this place through Yelp - and decided to try it as I needed something quick, decent and close to my appointment. The ambiance was classy and chill. I loved the music - Sinatra type classics. There were three flat screen tvs behind the bar playing a Clippers game. There is plenty of parking in the shopping complex. The staff is exceptional (and cute)!!! I was one of 5 others in the place. I was greeted by everyone and the chef had a conversation at all the right moments of my meal. Not intrusive at all! The food was pretty good and their drinks menu was enticing...but I was in the neighborhood on business. Maybe next time! I ordered the Albacore sushi and half the tornado roll. Both fairly decent choices. Great find in a pinch...looks like an even better happy hour spot. They weren't obnoxiously big, so you could them if you wanted to focus on your dinning companion(s) instead. ignore

I have been here at least 5 times with the bf in the last year or so. On every single visit we always order the Love roll, its soo good! We have also tried the beef/chicken teriyaki, shrimp/vegetable tempura, and the rainbow roll. The only one we didn't really like was the rainbow roll (but only because we aren't really into the raw fish, baked please!) The red bean tempura ice cream is really good too. For the ice cream we didn't know it was going to have chocolate drizzled all over it and since the bf can't have chocolate we let them know so they made a new one for us without seeming like it was a bother (Thank you!). When it comes to customer service they have been pretty attentive. They refill our drinks without us having to ask and it's pretty easy to get their attention when we need anything. I haven't celebrated my birthday here but I have seen the waiters sing happy birthday and make the lucky b-day person wear bunny ears which is pretty cool, silly and fun :)

Visited this restaurant for lunch with a few co-workers. I usually frequent the Fusion Sushi in Hermosa Beach so in my visit I got the popcorn lobster... usually it is a big portion when I get it in Hermosa but here it seemed... quaint lol. Overall still good flavors and pricing was good as well. The atmosphere here can be described as hip and modern, I would say. Dark theme with bold accents? lol. Whatever I'm not an interior decorator I wouldn't know how to describe it. Service was a little slow, considering we were like the only 1 out of like 3 parties there for lunch. And it was weird considering we asked to split our check before ordering which was promised, and found out we couldn't split it once we were finished. So yeah... I like the Hermosa Beach location better! haha sorry LBC location, you're still A-OK in my book.

Sushi is good and fresh but seriously I come here for the miso cod. I don't even understand how they make this but I can honestly say that it's one of the best fish dishes I have ever had. I'm pescetarian so I have tried many different types of fish prepared in various ways but nothing gets better than this. It literally melts in your mouth and tastes like heaven. Fish lovers beware it's addicting. Had it like 3 times last week.

I came to this place recommended by a close friend. The outside environment made this place look sketchy. I still gave it a chance & they let me down. The customer service sucked. My food took forever to come. We almost left. In the end, my siblings & I should have left. The sushi was terrible, I have had way better. Never coming back here ever again.

Only been here once. It was fun and the food was good at a reasonable price. The fish was fresh and the spices were pretty much on point. Does what the sushi bar needs to. We left it up to our waitress to deliver our food and pick the best choices. She did a great job and we left satisfied with the amount and price. Highly recommend going during the week

Great sushi place. Went here on a Wednesday night. Please note that they do not close at 10:30pm they close at 10. We came in at 10 and had to order our sushi Togo. Nonetheless, it was still great and super fresh. I would go here again just change the business hours that are listed.

My wife and I have been coming here now for over 2 years and Sushi has never been the same. We love it here. Try the Sesame Chicken as an appetizer and then either the Hungry Roll or the Tornado Roll. Oh, yeah you have to try the spicy edamame. You will thank me. Enjoy!

I tried this place because it's close to home and looked good. I wasn't too happy. My rice was hard, like it had been sitting in the rice cooker for too long. And the sashimi I ordered wasn't very fresh it seemed. Smelled a little and had a bit too much of a fishy taste. I didn't try their dinner entrees so I'm not sure how those are.

  • Charles d.

Never again. This used to be my favorite sushi place and I would drive past several competing sushi joints to get here. But, their prices have increased by at least 40 percent since the last time I was here (not that long ago). At the same time many of my go-to dishes are gone from the menu. But the real kicker is the waitress never informed us it was happy hour, so we ended up ordering combo plates that were about 30 percent more expensive than the pricing on the happy hour menu. Really, really annoying. Never again.

  • Triniti T.

Don't get me wrong. The food here is good but the service has been a little subpar lately. I've been coming here ever since they opened and they've gone down here a little since then. I usually go here to get my sushi fix if I want to stay local. The portions are generous and the rolls they have are very creative and delicious. But the modern and trendy interior can't even make up for what they lack in service. And they even got rid of their awesome happy hour deal that had $2 hand rolls. I'm probably just jaded from my most recent experience here. We got seated next to the window and maybe that's why we were ignored the whole time. We got so tired of trying to flag someone down that eventually, my boyfriend got up to get the bill sent to us. And then had to get up again to pay for the bill. But this place should at least be experienced for this one reason alone: THE LOBSTER ROLL. I never knew a lobster roll could be so delicious. It is a must try but if you're not into sweet rolls, I'd say pass on this and get the Alaskan Roll. If you want to try and skip the carbs, get a Hawaiian Roll. These 3 rolls together are great and if you're feeling adventurous, get the Bora Bora Roll.

    (3)
  • Angie A.

the food and service are great! the sesame chicken is one of my favorites. the shrimp tempura and chicken/beef teriyaki are my boyfriend's favorites. the rolls are good but we usually get the bento box or appetizers since they are the best deal. this is my new go-to place!

  • Maggie W.

Love, love, love this place! It's my go to place when I get a hankering for sushi. Their fish is always super fresh and delicious. The salmon and yellowtail are my favorites. I like going for their crazy lunch combo (which ends at 3). You get 5 pieces of sushi and pick a roll. I usually get the rainbow roll since it seems like I get my money's worth. Their salad is really good too. I've had the crab salad as well as the sashimi salad. Both are yummy. The place is clean and the staff is friendly. Sometimes it takes a while to get your check, even when it's slow. But other than that, it's a great sushi place :) Take out is always good too for the nights I don't feel like going out but crave sushi!

  • Anna P.

If you like creative rolls, this is a great place. They have a huge variety to choose from. I've eaten here many times and have gotten very good fish all but once. The "once" was some gristly salmon; no biggy. The service is very friendly. I HIGHLY recommend their Sizzling Shitake Mushroom dish. Yummmmm!

  • Simone B.

I went last night. The sushi was too big to fit it all in my mouth, it was about 3 full bites worth. The sushi had a funny looking and was hard. Service was okay. I'm not going back!

Whenever I'm in Long Beach definitely stop by at Fusion Sushi. It's located next to McDonald and Super Mex. There is plenty of parking but tends to get crowded around lunchtime but there is plenty of spaces for all. When you entered there is always a game on all the TVs. There is a row of booth seats, a bar, wooden table and chairs. No fancy private rooms with the floor mats and cushions. I love it when there is happy hour over the weekend. Service: Friendly and quick. Food: Keep an eye look out for their happy hour. I noticed from time to time they will offer happy hour at the most random days and time. Last time, my boyfriend and I were there for lunch and they had happy hour with discounts off on selective sushi rolls and drinks from 11AM-2PM on a Saturday! Maybe I don't go out to eat at sushi restaurants that often. But damn that's a good deal to me. Recommendation: If you are fan of raw meat, I must say its fresh here. My favorite is the Salmon sashimi. Sushi Rolls: Final Fantasy Roll, Snow cone Roll, and Long Beach Roll. Heavy with Food Coma Rolls: Hungry Roll, Scallop Dynamite, and Baby Lobster Roll.

I stick to the sushi so I can't talk about the rolls. The lunch combo is great with 5 pieces, miso soup, and 1 special roll for about $14 or so. Good price, good amount, and above average sushi. Give it a shot.

  • Audrey D.

I mean it's good, the food. The prices are just like every other sushi place. The service isn't really all that great though. But if you just want to come to fulfill your sushi cravings, why not. The setting is nice and there is a bit of a discount when it's happy hour. Oh, and the tempura ice cream is super good.

Love this place! I don't eat sushi, but the Japanese food is great. The teriyaki beef was so tender it just melted in my mouth. The tempura vegetables are really good. Recently my family and I had dinner there and we were surprised that 3/4 of the restaurant was occupied by a wedding reception party! Each table was served a giant "boat" full of sushi and Japanese food. It was all beautifully presented! The prices are good and I highly recommend this place for lunch or dinner.

When my wife and I first starting going to this place it was one of our favorite restaurants. Food and service were a lot better. Food was fresh and well made and the wait staff were very attentive. Now, it's just ok. Sushi is good. Service is decent. Not anything special anymore. We still go there but it's mostly out of habit. Try it out if you're looking for a mediocre experience.

The service here is horrible. The waitresses do not tend to the table the way they should. It takes forever for them to bring you your sushi rolls and sashimi. My husband hates to come here but I wanted to give it another try to see if it improved it's service and unfortunately it did not.

Good but not great food. Rather casual service. Because it's so close to home, we occasionally drop in, usually when we're eating really late since they're one of the few non-fast food places nearby still open.

First let me say that I would like to think the reason the waiter dropped the glass was because he was in awe of my beauty...I am sure this was not the case...but I can dream! :-) This is a solid sushi restaurant with a great atmosphere during weekdays or weekends. Waiters are friendly and the sushi chefs make a mean roll. Jessica Albacore Roll-My new favorite roll! Yummy yummy in my tummy! Seared albacore surrounding spicy albacore, spicy tuna and crab. Can't believe I missed this little piece of heaven the last time I was here. Melts in your mouth. Bora Luau Island-Asparagus? Yes! Wrapped with scallops and tuna! Another home run for my tum! Tuna Popeye- WTH you say? Deep fried spinach? What? YES! Tuna sashimi covered with deep fried spinach and garlic...nom nom nom! Tuna & Salmon sashimi- FRESH, FRESH, FRESH! We were a satisfied group walking out the door, especially after the cute little panda bear shaped orange dessert made just for me!...again I will dream that it was because of my beauty....

Enjoyed our special rolls! Our kids always split the Chicken Cutlet. They love it. Important to note that if you use a coupon, they tax you on the regular price, so your tax will be higher. It's a shame they do not DISCLOSE that.

After looking for a sushi place that was family budget friendly, I decided to give this place a try to have dinner with my family for my birthday. Another reason I pick this place was the fact they had TVs showing the Laker game (dad is a huge fan). I also had a gift certificate for $50 if you spend $100. For sushi, that is easy to hit with a starving family of 4. Started off with some green tea all around and a second helping of edamame. I'm surprised they actually charge for that. Then we ordered some appetizers: soft shell crab tempura and mussels. Both good. Although I preferred the crab. Yum! Then we shared the Ninja boat. And boy was that a lot of food. Dad had to order his own tempura entree. But it was soo much food,we took 2 to-go boxes home. In the end our tab came out to $87 including tip. Not bad at all... Finished up the night with picking up birthday cupcakes at Charmed Cupcakes. Also worth a visit.

I really wanted to like this place, but it seems like each time I go back the service gets worse. At minimum I wanted to like it so that I would come back to it as a cool place to get a few drinks and decent sushi for happy hour. The waitress doesn't seem to give 2 cents about your order enough to relay it correctly to the kitchen or the kitchen has an issue with reading tickets. The miso soup was so salty that even after I diluted it with hot water I couldn't finish half of it, most of the 10 of us who went did not go in for a third taste of it. Miss waitress came back with the wrong order of rolls for two girls and kept blaming us for the order (maybe they should have turned down the music a tad so she could hear properly or wrote down the orders in a fashion which she wouldn't have to ask whose plate was whose each time.) Her attitude was something I would expect from a young teenager not of a professional woman at work in the customer service industry. Obviously she was getting a tip anyways for a large party gratuity. We had to ask about 5 times to get one side of sriracha sauce. We then had to ask another 3 times for a second. I got the 2 item lunch special with the korean short ribs, which was good, my second item was sashimi which came with two pieces each of seared yellow tail, salmon and some fake looking tuna. I also ordered a Special half off for a half size roll, it was spicy tuna in a cucumber shell, it tasted like the spicy tuna was past the point of fresh. This gal right here, got sick!!! Thanks Fusion... I will not be back, ever. This seems to be the place for people who like rolls with the cooked stuff. I guess I'm old school and like my sushi made with fish fresh and raw. I will be going up to Signal Hill for my fresh bluefin tuna sashimi and stellar service. This place left me with a sour taste in more than one way. I hope the owner or their corporate department reads these reviews. The good reviews have to be a fluke. Time after time I've gotten mediocre food and sub par customer service.

This place makes me CRAVE for sushi! Its so delicious! After an all nighter from studying, sushi tastes so heavenly (well, not to that extremity..ahahha) Me and my coworkers ALWAYs get a boat. Its around $60-80. Depends on which item you get. Trust me, its good and its worth the price. Staff: Very friendly. They always come to check up on you. Seating: Usually not crowded so you don't have to wait. Parking outside: Lots of parking if you are willing to walk a few steps more.

Unimpressed. Walked in and saw the sign to wait to be seated. Wrote our name down on the wait list, which had no one on it. Two other couples came in after us and the last one finally just walked in asked to be seated but was nice enough to let them know they had other customers waiting before them. (thank you nice girl, whoever you were!) The guy she talked too either wasn't very bright or didn't understand English very well, cuz he couldn't understand that when we told him "2 adults and a child", he followed up with "so you two and them" gesturing at two non-Asian biker looking couple waiting at the door. We had to repeat and clarify a few more times before he understood that we weren't together and that it was just 3 in our party, not 4 or 5. =\ And the thing was, though the booths in the place was full, but all the center tables were empty, so I don't understand the delay of any sort in greeting and seating. Actually I do come to think of it.... They don't have a host/hostess it appears. Maybe they should or maybe we came in a night where they didn't have one...which was a Saturday night. (eye-roll). The music was driving me nuts. It was techno and really jumpy..made me feel more anxious when I just wanted to enjoy a calm relaxing dinner. Trying to be too hard to be hip (remember this place is in a strip mall by a donut shop, hardware store and grocery store). The tv's are just silly. Unless your right at the bar,you could barely see what's going on screen even when your sitting across the room. They need to upgrade. Anyway, all this before the food! Which as previous yelpers said...looks and sounds good...but overall just overpriced and no flavor or freshness. Looks good on paper, but completely oppositie. We did order quite a bit, and the server was decent enough to recommend that we cut-out a few dishes, because it was a lot of food. But we still got too much. The Sashimi dish, I think Sashimi B...has really thick but short slices and a decent assortment,,,but the freshness was missing. We order edamame, which was stupid, cuz they give you a complimentary bowl, which another server forgot (?) to tell us. The rolls....Not sure what previous yelpers were raving about...sure they're big portions...but totally bleh in taste. We didn't even eat half the stuff cuz it just so below average. I made the mistake of ordering the oysters in the half shell, which btw only includes 4 pieces, even though the picture and description in the menu show 5! When I asked though, they did give me the extra one...which I kind of regret, because it wasn't that good. All in all, although the servers were nice and accomodating, I couldn't tell which one was my server, because we had so many different people come to our table. They just seems really disorganized. They're potential there, they just need to get their act together. I would give them another try, just don't think the hubby would tho. oh well.

Fusion Sushi? Is this name to mean they have: "Fused together bad ideas and mediocre food combined with horrible service with a barely recognizable lost vision of a Japanese Cuisine" Ahhh, then appropriately named.

Food as usual was awesome had to have our usual lobster roll and snow cone and of course the seared ahi they were great. Got the super crunch for the side kick that's her favorite, tried three new ones. The vampire awesome the Jessica alba core also awesome and the Godzilla not to my liking. Also had the beef gyosa and shrimp shumai they were hot and tasty. The only down fall is we where stuck in the back room with a party of MB snobs and there unruly brats. Made it hard to enjoy a otherwise delicious meal. Service not the best have had much better here in the past Sang was his name slow and un attentive my drink sat empty for 10 minutes till I finally flagged him down then it took another 5-10 minute to get it after that. Glad he had help otherwise I would have been asking for the manager.

Full points for freshness- not your usual frozen fish sushi place run by non-Japanese! However, as the name implies Fusion is not about traditional sushi, and isn't shy about turning up the heat, as well as adding crunch and creamy toppings to create a kind of hybrid cuisine. Even though this is nowhere near a traditional sushi restaurant, Fusion should be commended for consistently good product...we go here about once a month and have never been disappointed. Spider Roll features a very generous helping of perfectly fried soft shell crab and the Monster Roll is surprisingly delicious. Miso soup is always tasty. Quality serving staff enhances the experience.

Ice Ice Baby!! The sushi is certainly jumping here at Fusion, no literally! I came here last night for some yum yum sushi! I think I might have met my new BFF!! Whenever I eat sushi I try not to eat the rice. Yea, I know I am breaking the number #1 rule when it comes to sushi, but I get to eat way more and trust me here at Fushion you want to be able to eat way more! What makes Fusion sushi so great?? They have a wide variety of rice less sushi!! and it is just bombdiggity!! Huge phat rolls stuffed generously with all kinds of goodness. They start you off with some edaname too! Careful not to eat too many or you won't have room for sushi. I can't remember what we ordered, my date did the ordering, but it was delicious!! The service was more than excellent. The waiters really do deserve a gold-star for their hospitality. I definitely will go back.

Eh, wasn't impressed at all. Sushi was marginal at best and the service was horrible. I was there for an early(5pm) dinner on a Friday night and expected their staff would be on their "A" game but it was quite the opposite. My Fiance and I waited at the front for someone to notice us before finally asking someone if we could be seated... should have been a sign. When we were seated it took at least 10 mins before the server finally asked us if we wanted something to drink and if we were ready to order. No one came and checked on us the rest of the evening! At one point, I actually saw several of the staff taking shots of saki at the bar in front of everyone! Not how I would do business. Won't be back any time soon.

I missed lunch because I had this crazy idea I was going to walk around town a bit. You know, tree hugging save the earth don't drive the car toe & heel express get some oxygen and play frogger through the construction zones. I had initially stopped at Wild Berry's. Even the crickets had put up a sign that they had moved away. I might have this residual rule that if I've never seen anyone eating in there... me neither. Fusion had a nice clean front window where I could see their "Happy Hour" sign with their specials. And, as luck would have it, in their Hour of Happy, they had sushi (a piece) for $1 (a handroll for $2.) That was a good start. It got better - they have Wi-Fi and I got to check-in :::adjusting crown:::: The wait staff was very nice and didn't mind that I ordered a side of rice, miso soup, and a handroll and salmon sushi. The edamame was free. Free is always nice, but theirs was just okay. The miso was excellent. For many years, I was subject to the insta-miso with those freeze dried reconstituted squares of tofu :::shudder::: but I loved it anyway. The miso here has real bits of tofu. The rice was great. I have to mention this because this has been a week of restaurants lousing up the rice. The tuna handroll was interesting. I"m not sure if it was me or it, but one of us just wasn't right. I will err on the side that I'm a novice su-su-sushi-girl. At this point in the review, I'm in the mood to do a bit of "interpretive dance" over my joy of salmon. While I had to practically be a lion from the Serengeti to get through the tuna, the salmon was not too fatty (I can't believe I wrote that), and had enough of a bite to it to be pleasant and delicious. I will be back for the lunch bento box (lunch ends at 3pm.) My biggest regret, and this is sheer pickiness, was that I ordered the tea. At $2.50, it was the most expensive item on my bill. Without the tea, my lunch would have been under $7. Take this as a gripe, but a shot of Fuji Apple saki at Kabuki is $4. Ice tea at almost $3 is quite wrong. Did I mention that they had free Wi-Fi? I consoled my tea bitterness with being a Wi-Fi expense and free tea. Next time I'll bring my own in a paper bag. A Mescan with a drink in a paper bag at a Sushi bar, ya that sounds just about right. Of course, it will be a recycled and reused paper bag just to be eco-friendly. :::raising up shot glass::: Ohayo gozaimasu! (General ledger entry "meals and entertainment.)

This is our neighborhood sushi place and I surprisingly really like it!! Service is usually great and we have rarely ever waited for a table. My fiance and I always start off with a house ginger salad to share- the dressing is soooooooo good!! They also bring you complimentary edamame. We usually get 2-3 rolls depending on how hungry we are. Our go to rolls are the Jose roll, Red Dragon, Geisha Roll, and Caterpillar roll. We recently tried the baked lobster roll and it kind of grossed me out. I think I just don't like warm stuff on my sushi.. anyways, my favorite is when it's someones birthday and the crazy techno music and lights start going. Highly entertaining and always makes me giggle.

Overall a decent place for SUSHI, and a whole lot of variety. Enjoyed the decor and atmosphere, very modern. There are many choices of rolls, nigiri and handrolls to choose from, with the addition of warm foods that were very interesting as well. During this visit, tried the sesame chicken, salmon roll, yellowtail sunrise, super caterpillar roll, scallop dynamite and edamame. All enjoyed with a warm cup of green tea. AND ALL very good!! :) Would definitely want to come back and try the other varieties of sushi rolls, and maybe even interested in their Manhattan Beach location.

Every substitution is going to charge you. I asked to substitute regular crab meat for spicy crab meat and I was charged for it. Free edamame, which is nice. Ordered the monster roll, which included soft shell crab. If you don't eat soft shell crab, the crab is in middle so you can avoid eating it. I ordered a Love Roll with no masago. It was delicious except that the sauce they used was SO OVERWHELMING! It drenched the sushi roll, so it fell apart every time I picked it up. And the shrimp tempura roll is very generic, but delicious. Each roll only came with 6 pieces, but they were STUFFED with so much yummy goodness. For a bento box and 3 sushi rolls, my bill came out to be $48 before tip. Don't recommend this sushi restaurant if you don't want to break the bank. And bring your business card, they have giveaways.

Don't believe the hype! This place is great! Ok so I'm not big on writing reviews... I mostly rely on other Yelpers to guide me but tonight, I've got to set the record straight. My husband had this restaurant.com voucher and wanted to surprise me with a sushi night. He picked this place and I was really looking forward to trying it...until I read the reviews on Yelp! We seriously considered NOT going after what others posted but decided to keep an open mind. Boy are we glad we did!!! The place was great, the food was great, and the service was excellent!!! The whole experience was so opposite of the recent negative posts, that I had to go up the manager and tell him what a great time we had and to thank him! You should try this place for yourself!

I would say that this is one of the more satisfying sushi places in Long Beach. The sushi, tempura, and other items here are good, I enjoy the layout of the restaurant, and the service is pretty good. One major downside is that each time I've gone in there it has been rather loud. The main thing that makes this place stand out is it's happy hour, which is Monday-Friday from 4-6 PM. Sushi pieces are $1 each, hand rolls are $2, and there's a discount on beer. If you're looking for a cheap, good place to grab some sushi, go here during happy hour. Shaun's recommendation: Dragon Roll.

When my bf and I first walked into this half emptied restaurant we were greeted by the manager and was seated right away. We didn't actually get a server/waitress until 15 minutes of waiting at our booth. After the waitress came, we gave her the restaurant.com coupon and was instructed on the rules of using the coupon. I was fine with it. I mean it was only printed in obvious large bolded letters. Our waitress didn't even bother asking us if we wanted anything to drink. Instead she handed us a piece of paper and told us to mark what we want. However, she took the pen so I had to dig in my purse for my own. I guess I don't mind it because I work in the restaurant business and understand it can be forgetful. My bf and I decided to order the "fresh" oysters, godzilla roll, spicy lobster roll, unagi, and salmon sushi. After waiting awhile, the manager came with some food from the table next to us and tried to argue that the alaska roll and salmon sushi were what we ordered. After he took the plates away, a waitress came buy to give us someone else's orders again. I had to tell them twice it wasn't what we ordered. Eventually, or meals came. We had the fresh oysters first. The taste was bland with a hint of ponzu sauce. The oysters where okay. Once we were done with the oysters, my bf noticed that there were little tiny worms swimming on the bottom of the oysters plate and my plate. At that moment I almost threw up. Who the hell serves worms on a platter?! We tried to let the manager know but he kinda brushed it off and handed me a new plate. Throughout the whole entire meal, I was feeling really queazy. Nothing seems to taste good and none of the ingredients worked well together. On top of that, we keep over hearing another customer arguing with the manager about a charge she had on her bill that she didn't order. It was quite a disturbing conversation. Once our bill came, we noticed that the waitress double charge us for a roll. We had to explain to her that we didn't order extra rolls of the same kind. I've never had a bad experience at a restaurant before. Even if it was not so great, I usually give places the benefit of the doubt. I'm usually optimistic and would try a place again if I didn't like it the first time. However, this time around, I would give this place the middle finger, and would never ever return ever.

good sized portion for the lunch...even bigger if you go there for dinner. I would say this is the best non-traditional Japanese restaurant I have eaten at in Long Beach so far. I usually get the three item bento lunch box with Sesame Chicken, Korean Short Ribs and Gyoza. Service is very friendly as well. The sushi is always very fresh, and they have a wide variety of rolls and nigiri sushi.

With menu items like "Jessica Albacore" and "Final Fantasy Roll", I liked this place from the get-go. You walk in and it's not your typical Japanese restaurant decor. In fact, it looked like a night-club that got thrown in the middle of a LB shopping center. One of the workers was even trying to fix their string of strobe light-like lights, which he accomplished by the end of our meal. Nonetheless, the service was friendly and quick, just as I'd hoped it would be. I stuck to the traditional bento box that consisted of tempura, sashimi, and scallop yaki with side orders of salad and miso soup. Here's the breakdown: Tempura: Decent; one of my tempura string beans tasted like cardboard, but everything else was good. I like their tempura sauce. Sashimi: probably the best part of the bento box. The crusted-tuna sashimi was very unique and slightly spicy! Scallop yaki: a little too dry for my taste. With all apologies to my arteries, I like it with a little more of that dynamite/mayo sauce! Salad: loved it, although the dressing is way more sweet than citrus. Their food is definitely on the pricier side. Also, everything tasted unexpectedly sweet, from the tempura sauce to the salad dressing. My friend wasn't too crazy about that. So the story goes--not the best Japanese food in the world, not the worst. There are definitely more menu items I'd like to try. I'll be back for you, Jessica Albacore.

First and foremost, Thank You restaurant.com !! For my $2, I was able to purchased a $25 gift certificate to Fusion Sushi. Granted that we came during their happy hour (4-6pm), however the gift certificate still proved itself to be a better deal with more flexibility beyond the happy hour menu. Fusion Sushi is a solid 3.5 stars! It is better than A-Ok, but I am not sure if I am quite a fan yet. With restaurant.com by our side, we had the luxury of tasting their most expensive (I'm sure it was the most expensive) roll on their menu: The Lobster "Special" Roll for $18.50. It was a lobster tempura roll that came with the actual lobster tail stuffed with marinated lobster chucks. Aside from the fact that the roll came with a lobster tail, it had a unique peanutty taste that normally does not accompany a sushi roll. Interesting, but I would probably not order it again... especially not for the price. We also had their Hot-N-Hot roll (jalapeños & cheese tempura), Popcorn roll (lobster & shrimp tempura, Lobster roll, side orders of miso soup and shrimp tempura. My favorite roll of the night had to be the regular nonspecial Lobster roll! It had the combination of the creamy baked lobster on top of the roll along with the fresh veggies inside the roll to create a unique mix of taste and texture. I really enjoyed it in comparison to the other rolls. Yum. Service here was hit or miss. It was almost a bipolar experience with the two waitress than we had. One was super cute and full of sweetness whereas the other one didn't seem to understand the concept of a smile. The modern interior was definitely a surprised compared to their exterior!! It is a lot nicer once you walk into the restaurant, I promise. The coolest thing was probably the fact that our sushi rolls came out on a skateboard, yup... skateboard! With the help of restaurant.com , our total bill with an 18% gratuity was around $43! Overall experience, solid 3.5 stars.

Very bad first impression. The food is alright but the server (Angela) was too careless and rude from the moment we came in. Brought out courtesy miso soup, but took one of them away without asking if we were done. I wouldn't even bother coming back to this location again. If you decide to stop by, ask for Rachel, she was very courteous and helpful. Can't say that about Angela though..Oh and rather than Angela being a helpful server, she was busy taking shots with people at the other occupied table and chatting away. Did she even work there, or borrow someones uniform and name tag?

Food was fine, but I took issue with one of their "discounts". This is a place that markets their prices as "40% off" all the time. You look at the menu and they show the "regular price" in one column and then have a second "40%off"column next to it. Those are the prices all the time. They also have Happy Hour prices, special discount nights, etc. They sent me a coupon for $20 off the purchase of $50. It stated it was not good on specials or other offers. You know where this is going. My wife and I ate $50 in sushi and when they get the coupon, they bump the price up %40 and take off the $20. Basically, they cancelled out their own coupon. I thought this was disingenuous and took up the issue with the manager. He apologized but said there was nothing he could do. Beware.

Best rolls! I don't eat raw fish so I really like that they have a variety of cooked fish rolls here. The service is great. They are usually pretty busy so if you go at peak hours you will most likely have to wait. Prices are pretty average for sushi.

Food was phenomenal! Loved all of it! Only thing I disliked about the place was the service. We were pretty much rushed out (we came in a half hour before they closed) and the waitress never came by to check how things were--EVER. The busser refilled my boyfriends water once but that was it. Aside from the busser, the staff was NOT friendly whatsoever. Didn't give a very big tip.

How is it possible that you take my order at 9:40, bring my party and me our huge order at 9:50, then tell us at 10:00 that we need to leave?? Could you have told us before taking our order that you are going to kick us out in 20 minutes? I'm not a customer service expert, but I think you could have mentioned it to us. Yes, this was the worst service experiences I've ever had. And I've twice been to Paris, people!

The main reason we went here was because of the Restaurant.com voucher. We had a busy morning, and the kids were starving. Complimentary edamame is a plus. Daughter ordered a roll...which she gobbled up in 5 minutes. The rest of us split the bento boxes, and the boys also enjoyed their meal very much. The service was just ok...had to flag them down a couple of times even when the restaurant wasn't busy. We're probably coming here again...but with another Restaurant voucher.

One of the better sushi places in long beach. If you go for their happy hour it is very reasonable. I'd recommend this place over sushi studio any day. Much better quality fish and better presentation.

After debating for quite some time now, my husband and I finally decided to give this place a try. The ambiance is nice, clean and modern for a sushi joint. We ordered Four diff sushi plates and sashimi. Food was descent, as well as presentation, but the size of their sushi rolls... It was barely enogh for my 6 yr old, who by the way loves sushi and sashimi. Don't get me wrong I wasn't expecting an all you can eat either,in fact I've never even been to one of those joints, because it doesn't seem like real sushi to me. But for the price we have paid for sushi...trust me, I know what I want. Now their service!!! Good Lord! It was awful! One sushi chef and three waitresses (two were on their break sitting at a table, I'm assuming). After like seven min. of trying to get someones attention my husband finally got up and went to the sushi bar nicely asked for CHOPSTICKS!!! And drinks. Seriously... At that point I was like I'm done, and our food had just been served. And to top things off, I take my 6 month old to the restroom for a diaper change... There is NO diaper changing station not even some sort of counter top on the sink to change a baby. I had to change her on the floor!!! Luckily my diaper bag opens up but still! I understand the truly modern lounge ambiance and all, but come on... I think I speak for all parents with an infant out there. Just because we have a baby does not mean we can't go out to a nice restaurant with our child not being a nuissance and or needing of a very very common special facility. Will NOT be visiting this place again.

The beef short ribs were very well made and delicious. What ever marinade they use on the beef short ribs works and I would definitely order them again. The yellow tail collar appetizer was also a great pick! The flavor of the yellow tail was excellent and cooked perfectly. The only issue was the cucumber salad. I love cucumber salad but this particular one was very sour and the cucumbers didn't seem so fresh. It tasted as if the cucumbers were soaked in the dressing for several hours before being served. Other than the cucumber salad, I am still a fan of this restaurant and will continue to come and enjoy the delicious food!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, Im a fan of this place. If you have a craving for Ebi (Shrimp)Tempura and you live in the area, no doubt you wont go wrong coming here. Sushis are just okay. I mean its not that bad at all unless your standards are way up or you're just too cheap to think that its very pricey here. I'd say its just in the middle. I would drive to go to Koi in Seal Beach if I think that this place is awful but its really not.

Honestly one of the best Japanese Sushi and Roll places that I have ever been to. Yes, it looks really ghetto from outside and the whole plaza is somewhat boring but the inside is totally another story. The overall decor is really well done. It has the traditional feel yet very modern at the same time. And the food quality and the taste is to die for. People in LA county and OC are so used to generic sushi and rolls but here at Fusion sushi, everything is unique and special in its own way. You must try this place! :)

My mom was craving a bento box, so we decided to come over here for lunch. Yum, yum, yum! They have so many things here that they don't have at other Japanese restaurants. We both got a two-item combo, and I decided to try a Korean bbq beef dish, and the scallop-yaki; and my mom had salmon teriyaki and goyoza. The Korean bbq beef and the scallop-yaki were both different, and they were great tasting. Would definitely get both again. My mom loved her meal as well, and she let me try some of her salmon and goyoza. The salmon was tender and melt-in-your-mouth, and the goyoza was just okay. I'm not a big fan of goyoza, though, so I can't really complain. We also shared a California Roll, and it was one of the best I've had. It was nice and fresh, and I could taste both the avocado and the crab (I taste mostly the rice and a bit of crab salad with most Ca Rolls). The miso soup was also some of the best I've had. Since I moved down here to SoCal, I hadn't found a restaurant that serves as good miso soup as a place I used to eat at in Central Cal, until now. The service was just okay. Not too long after I came in, both the waitress and the manager got yelled at by another customer for something or other... and I could tell that the waitress was upset. While she didn't take it out on us, and she was as friendly as she could be under the circumstances, she only gave us our menus and took our order. A cook delivered it, and a more cheerful waitress filled our waters and gave us the check. Anyway, the food was GREAT, so I'll definitely be back. Can't wait to return to try some of the other dishes, and more sushi!

I dined here using the Restaurant.com coupon, and I got a great buy. The service is spot on and I can't stress that enough. I thought after giving them the coupon, we would receive bad service. That simply wasn't the case. They have numerous menu items and it took us a long time to order. The wait staff kept checking on us. Also, I was asked several times if I wanted a refill, after I only drank 1/3 of my diet coke. The sushi came rather quick, in comparison to most sushi places I've dined at. Here are some suggestions: C7 Final Fantasy Roll This sucker is yummy and topped with lots of salmon and crab meat. Very filling. C24 Philadelphia Roll The salmon was super fresh that night. It was yummy. C6 Snowcone Roll My favorite, try it if you come here. Ozeki Crab and Tuna (side order) That night it was fresh and tasty. I would definitely order the crab again. Here's the link for the Restaurant.com coupon: restaurant.com/rdc/fusio… We ordered 1 soda, 3 rolls, 2 sides of sushi, and the bill was $54. With the Restaurant.com coupon it ended up being $29 WITH tax and tip already included. Good deal for some tasty and fresh sushi.

Try the Sashimi Salad ($13)--generous portions of sashimi, crispy fried wonton pieces, and delicious dressing! All their sushi tastes fresh and their specialty rolls aren't too creamy and fatty tasting (i.e. not stuffed with mayo like other places). They have a lot of menu options that its almost too much for me because I can't decide but I've enjoyed everything I've tried so far. The only reason I took away a star is because the man who oversees the restaurant and I'm assuming is the manager is kind of annoying and makes me feel uncomfortable while I'm eating. There's also no sign-in sheet or system if there is a wait, so the first time I went the server seated a couple that came in after me!

Sushi Restaurant Warning--Fusion Sushi on Spring/Palo Verde--saw one of their sushi chefs handling money, did not wash hands & proceeded to prepare sushi for customers. When brought to the attention of management, they tried to lie about it & dismiss it! Will not be eating there again & thought you all should be aware of their lack of hygiene practices! We were not offered any sort of "please come again on us" or any discount. We also waited a long time to be served. Overall, very poor. Unacceptable hygiene and unacceptable follow-up to a hygiene/sanitation consumer issue. We will certainly not be eating there again...and if you care about your health, please consider a more hygenic restaurant that takes this sort of thing more seriously! Especially when dealing with raw fish!

I really thought this place was delicious and has a great selection of sushi with out gouging prices. The service is attentive and I don't know why but they play awesome music. The sushi comes out quick and there is a lot on each plate, which is awesome. Will be coming back to this place again and again, and they even have a little card that you can get discounts from if you visit often enough! Sometimes it can be a little busy but a great place with awesome food and service.

Love this place! It's conveniently located and pretty damn good. Although their sushi doesn't always melt in your mouth, it is fresh and tasty. I've never had a problem with reservations for a group over 10 people. Even when we've walked in with a large group of people, they've been able to seat us in a more than reasonable amount of time. They have a frequent customer point card thing. the more you spend the more credit you get. For the past two years we've used the credit to come here for dinner on/around Valentine's Day. i love their rainbow roll, spicy tuna hand roll, and sashimi salad. Although there have been times when the service wasn't "a ten", the staff gets the job done and if there is something in particular wrong they'll work with you to make sure you're happy and reciprocated for the issue. (ie: a refund for a bone being in your yellowtail sushi. and yeah... there have been a few times that we've been overcharged on our bill for an extra hand roll or something.) Saki! Saki! Saki! BOMB!

I've had nothing but good experiences here. Always great service, reasonable prices and huge portions. Try the asparagus snow roll. Asparagus, crab and avocado inside with baked salmon on top. They also top it with a drizzle of teriyaki and this DELICIOUS white sauce. It's a great combination. Lobster roll is the best lobster roll I've ever had. They also have a seared ahi appetizer that comes with deep fried spinach leaves which is great.

I recently moved to Long Beach, and have been searching for a new sushi place. A friend and I were craving sushi the other night, so we turned to our faithful friend Yelp for a recommendation. It lateish on a Sunday evening, and our first choice was closed so we picked Fusion Sushi because of the four star rating and the reviews seemed to be positive. We arrived were pleasantly surprised to find there was a Happy Hour special going on. It's good deal: 50% off appetizers, buy one roll get the 2nd 50% off and they had select sashimi on special too. So we ordered the BBQ beef ribs, eel and yellowtail sashimi and the Long Beach and Geisha rolls. The BBQ ribs were great! Not a surprise though because this is a Korean specialty. The yellowtail sashimi was alright. I've had worse, but I definitely needed some soy sauce/wasabi to enjoy it here. The eel was cooked and wrapped around a rice ball with a piece of seaweed. It looked pretty : ) I don't have eel that often, but it was tasty. I was not a fan of the rolls. The Long Beach roll was the best of the two. I like spicy tuna a lot, but the spicyness of this particular tuna just overwhelmed the rest of the flavors. The Geisha roll was just a whole bunch of "crab" salad wrapped in rice and topped with tuna and fried garlic. I have never been a fan of the "crab" filling a lot of sushi places use to fill their rolls, so I think that's what ruined the roll for me. Overall, I'd give this place a 3.5. The ribs were great and the sushi was mediocre. I've had fresher fish, but I've also had worse. The service was great as well, but I didn't really like the ambiance. I prefer something more traditional. I'll probably come back for happy hour though and try some of the noodle dishes and other entrees.

I tried it again. Why, you ask? Because the food is good, and I am no adventurous sushi eater so I like to play it safe. AGAIN, my husband I were seated in "No mans land" near the entrance. AGAIN we waited patiently until a server came to take our order and get us drinks. She was nice and apologetic, and we did not see her again until we asked for the bill. In between her, we waited quite awhile for a male server who came out after our order went in and said they had run out of the fish appetizer my husband ordered "Would you like the cod instead?" Yes, my husband said. We did not see that cod come out until after my dinner came out, and our sushi came out, and my husband asked where the cod was. Surprised face,"you didn't get it?" No...and YOU'RE the person who asked if I wanted cod! So...yes on the food but Fusion is taken down to two stars because nobody has that kind of time and patience for a mere meal.

Before I visit this place I read bunch of yelp reviews. I was very worried.. but booya!! Screw all the people who gave this place bad review! Delicious big fat rolls and great sushi! Am I going to Fusion Sushi again later? I am already on my way AGAIN!!

Been here a few times because it's right next to my parents house. Not really satisfied. The service is ok. How long does it take for water? Rolls are decent and the chicken teriyaki isnt bad. Basically anything cooked here is okay. The sushi sucks but what do u expect when the price is 3.50 for two pieces of sushi? Bento boxes and happy hours make it worth going for I guess.

Me and my husband have been going to this particular Fushion Sushi for over a year now and we enjoy it very much. Though its not the best quality of sushi, it is still very good quality. If you are a regular, they'll give you a rewards card which gives back about 5% of your total bill and you could redeem it after accumulating over $10.00. So we used it tonight. Everytime we go we order from the Ala carte sushi menu..My favorite would be the white tuna(which i have never seen in any other sushi restaurants) and albacore sushi~ My husband's favorites are the halibut, squid, and scallop sushi..and best of all most sushi is $2.99 for 2 pieces. woo hoo~! They also get pretty creative with their rolls...tonight we had hungry roll and a lobster roll...mix of freshness and heartiness... We went there tonight to treat out a friend for his Birthday..and the workers brought out Tempura Ice Cream (big enough to share with 3 people). But this ice cream comes with some consequences....be aware...^^ (But i definitely recommend this place for birthday gathering and be sure to tell them that) One word to describe this place.."Yum :)" If you want a good sushi with a reasonable price, I would highly recommend this place~

This place has good lunch combos. You can combine sushi, sashimi, korean bbq and some dim sum items (pass on the latter). They upped their prices in the last couple of months, so not as good a deal as it used to be. But a solid lunch option.

Came here with our Restaurant.com gift certificate. Sometimes when you present the waitstaff with a discount (which needs to be given at time of order), they usually leave you alone since they already have their 18% pre-discount tip. NOT HERE. =) Granted, it wasn't busy---maybe 3 tables occupied---but still... We were treated very well. Food was delicious! Small bowl of edemame & bowls of miso soup were complimentary. Nice! Cost is what's expected, not too bad. I liked the tempura shrimp which had panko breading versus the normal tempura batter. Yummy! I also ordered steamed rice & the sesame chicken. Yummy! The chicken was marinated & cooked to perfection. Hubby had a bento lunch deal, stepson had a noodle soup dish. Everybody really loved the food. Can't wait to return!

Great neighborhood sushi joint. The fish is always very fresh, the kitchen dishes are scrumptious and the service is friendly. They do indeed have a lot of fusion rolls and Tuna Popeye is an original and very delicious presentation. That said, the vibe is totally different from Sushi Studio...

I work in the general area and I can remember starting at my job and being really excited for a sushi place close to my work! I would go 3-4 times a week, although it may have not been smart financially I enjoyed the food and the service I was provided...they do have daily specials especially on drinks the price is quite average for a sushi place in the area if you have been to plenty of sushi places this one is most definitely a step above the others.

My best friend and I usually do a girls' night out dinner once a week at a local place where we can just eat and talk and laugh and close the place down. We decided we wanted a change from our usual Mex place and came to Fusion bec we both knew it from previous takeout orders and we had also dined in for lunch over Labor Day weekend last year. We were here for dinner on a Tuesday night and again the following Tuesday night. Obviously, the sushi is good. Never had issues with the food. However, both times we dined in for dinner, the service was subpar. One waitress was apparently on break all night as she sat off and on having diinner with customers whom we assumed were friends, while the others ignored us. No one brought out the little green peas until we asked (when they finally took our order). It took forever to have our order taken, to get our food, and to bring out our check. The employees walked back and forth all night and apparently coul not see that we were ready to order or were still waiting for our food. The only person who paid any attention to us was the guy refilling our water. The restaurant was not empty but it was not busy either. Suffice it to say, the past several years of ordering to go yielded far better service. The first week we had gone for dinner, I left a 20% tip despite the poor service. The second week, the service was just as poor and my bill was $35 and some change so I simply rounded up to $40 even for a tip, which is less than a 15% tip. This was charged to my debit Visa linked to my bank account which I happen to check daily. Had I not checked it, I would not have seen that they took the liberty of increasing my tip by $2.00 making it a 15% tip. Initially, I thought that it might have been a data entry error but then it became transparently clear that the amount was exactly $2.00 more making it a 15% tip. I don't care if their bills give you the tip amounts (whether it's expected or done as a convenience)- a gratuity is just that. If the service sucks, then the gratuity is going to reflect the service. I contacted my bank and they confirmed that this is, indeed, fraud and that they saw this type of thing all the time but since the amount was only $2.00, they were going to absorb the cost. They only pursue the 'offender' if it was over $10.00. Trust me, I'm not one to squabble over a couple of dollars. However, it's the principle. My bank contacted Fusion and they didn't deny changing the tip amount after I had signed the bill! That's just what they do is what they said. Unbelievable! Interestingly, that same night, my friend paid cash and left a tip reflective of the service, and mumbled something about not trusting them. At the time, I didn't understand what she meant and just signed my receipt. It was when I saw the transaction online the next day that I realized what she was referring to. This is unfortunate bec, again, the food is good and it is the closest sushi place to my house. However, we have not gone back there since and it has been 6 months, and I will never dine there again. This arrogance basically says "We expect a minimum 15% gratuity from you even if our service sucks and we'll take it even if you don't leave it." I suppose I learned my lesson. Pay cash next time!

Dude, wow. Here's a list. 1. LOUD as fkcu. 2. Pricey!!!! 3. Korean style sushi. No tofu or knowledge of tofu except in a salad. 4. Bright LED lights that change color. How can I taste the subtle sushi flavor with too many things obscuring it. It seems like they're trying to mask their food. Sigh.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this place. The ambiance is nice with zebra wood walls. The service is always top notch as well. The prices are decent and they even have a points rewards program. This is a go to during lunch since it's just down the street from work. Their edamame is good with a nice buttery taste to it and their shrimp tempura batter has a sweet yummy taste..... MMM MMMM GOOOOD!!! I always order the lobster roll, I sometimes, actually ALL the time, crave for it! They have a good lunch special, too, which includes Korean BBQ. I am a regular here. :)

I had some down time in between classes and decided to try out this new sushi place nearby with my sister. We ordered two appetizers, one was the Maui Volcano which was absolutely delicious, and then the gonzu beef which were really good but the dipping sauce was a little too salty. A side of eel sauce helped that out. I also ordered a sushi side of seared ahi, super good and only $2.99! Our Geisha roll we ordered was okay.. probably could have chosen a better option. Just nothing exciting. But they did give us free edamame, a buy one get one entree meal card, and also started us on a "credit" card where whenever we come in we can rack up points. All in all, good service, decent prices, and we got a good bottle of wine for 25 bucks!

It is not unusual for my husband and I to go out and drop $100 on a sushi dinner. But I must agree with my other Yelpers that restaurants.com has been a blessing to our budget. We tried Fusion Sushi last Friday night. We were pleasently surprised when we got inside. The outside looks a little strip mall-ish. Great atmosphere. Busy and several families dining there. We started out with the Soft-Shell Crab appetizer. Yum and YUM! My husband said he could just eat that and be happy. Of course as usual, he forgot his reading glasses at home and did not see that I had ordered the Lobster Roll at $18.50. I'm not the lobster fan my husband is, but I thought it was DEE-LISH! I could have gone without all the murguro (roe or fish egg) topping, but hubbie is sold. "We are coming here from now on!" Our usual $100 for a sushi dinner was more like $70 with our restaurant.com gift certificate. I will definately visit this place again and we've already planned a night out with another couple. We want to try the special sushi platter served on a skateboard deck. Looks very hip!

The restaurant space was surprisingly nice, though I noticed upon further scrutinizing that it's a little "frayed" around the edges (paint, ceiling patches, bathrooms kind of dirty & stall doors not lockable, etc.). Apparently this is a CHAIN of sushi places, they have locations in Artesia, Torrance, etc. But I digress. I'm a sushi FANATIC. Love the stuff. Can't get enough. I don't bother with w/ teriyaki or other cooked menu items at most Japanese restaurants b/c frankly, I'm there for the raw fish, why on earth would I? That said, the fish here was just okay. Some of it was even a little sketchy (as in smelled fishy, tasted fishy). They have some interesting fusion rolls with ingredients like mango, jalepeno peppers, etc. a couple of which I tried (e.g. The Hot, Hot Roll) but they were really only marginally successful. Sushi Studio does a MUCH better job w/ those kinds of rolls. I tried Fusion Sushi b/c of a review that Larry Hill did in the Grunion a while back. He and his wife really enjoyed the food, but either something has changed since then, or we don't agree on our sushi tastes, b/c I really wasn't that thrilled with it. Also, the service was actually OVERLY done. Please do check on me, my drink, etc. but don't hover over me. I'm trying to enjoy my food. Sigh. I really can't think of a reason to go back given my other choices here in Long Beach and surrounding cities.

I really wanted to like this place too but the service sucked. I ordered only a roll and got served last! There was only 3 in our party and my daughter was the only one who ordered something that required cooking! Our order came in parts and in increments of 5-10 minutes apart, so it was very difficult to watch the rest of my party eat as I sat hungry. This was very disappointing and the reason for the small tip.

Great Sushi! My Brother N Law found this place due to a coupon they had in a paper. We gave it a try and hence another one of our favorite sushi joints was born! The best part is their huge list of rolls, not only is the list long but the rolls are huge. The service is always friendly and the place is always clean. They have a full bar and a quiet atmosphere. It would even be appropriate for a date if you so desired. I recommend going for lunch and enjoying the "Crazy Combo" which is probably their best deal.

My hubby and I are regulars at this place. Yes, it's close...walking distance in fact. But there are many things to love about it even if we had to trek a bit. What I love - consistently fresh fish, consistently good service, some inventive rolls (I love the Mexican Roll and am currently mounting a one-woman campaign to get it on the menu), pretty decent prices and a great rewards program. What I wish was clearer from the menu - I sometimes get surprised by a heavy hand with very rich sauces. All in all, a wonderful asset to a neighborhood with pretty slim-pickins' in the restaurant department.

The sushi was good but the staff was blah. I asked her what was on the special board because i couldnt see it from where i was sitting she had to go over and read the rolls one by one. lame.

This isnt necessarily the most authentic or even the BEST sushi you'll ever have. But for the price, its tasty and definitely filling. It seemed like back in the day, most sushi joints gave you edemame to snack on before your meal. NEVER happens anymore! Or maybe I'm just going to the wrong spots... But anyway, Fusion brings you not only edemame, but also miso soup! YAY! I loooove me some miso. The soup is pretty decent, once again not the best ever. But on the good end of the spectrum for sure. We both ended up ordering lunch specials. I got the "crazy special", which consisted of 5 pieces of assorted sushi and a special roll. I dont remember what special roll I decided on, but it was something with spicy albacore in it. Pretty good stuff. The assorted sushi was decent.. I liked all of it with the exception of salmon. But then again, Ive never been much of a salmon fan when it isnt cooked. Manfriend got a different combo, I think it was the sushi combo a, which came with a roll and some other stuff... (descriptive, I know). He chose a crunchy roll.. which I didn't particularly care for. It tasted kinda like imitation crab meat... or, Krab. Bahaha, I guess the "C" at the beginning of the word insures its authentic. Point is, you can fill up on some decent sushi for about 20 bones at Fusion. And their servers are sweet as pie. And ONE more thing I appreciate... they knew I was on my lunch break, so they hauled ass. It seems like at a lot of other places, I tell the server I am in a hurry, and it makes them actually move SLOWER. Good way to nix your tip, jackass. ;) If you are looking for authentic, date night sushi, this probably wouldn't be it. But for a quick lunch, or happy hour (I hear they have a fantastic one), Fusion is your man. Or, place. Whatever.

I wouldn't go quite as far as to declare myself a fan....but I do like Fusion Sushi enough to grab lunch here once a month or so. But it's more than "okay." I need a star rating that says "Nod of approval, it's good enough, not great, but I still go all the time." How could you not enjoy ordering the "Crazy Lunch." If only for the fact that you get to go back to the office after to say you got cuuhraaazy for lunch. Let them think you were doing sake bombs and dancing on the table, they don't have to know it's really just a $14 lunch special. $14 lunch special?! I know, I know...kinda pricey, but bear with me. While it's definitely not the best (or craziest, in all honesty) lunch special around, it is one of the best sushi lunch specials. You get six pieces of sushi, and your choice of any of the special rolls, not just a tuna handroll or some crap like other sushi joints do. It gets the job done though. Best sushi ever? Not by any means. Not that it's not fresh, it's fresh enough, it's just that a good chunk of the rolls come with more mayo than a Jumbo Jack. *shudder* On the bright side, once you figure out which rolls are pretty good (Red Dragon & Kamikaze), it's a great lunch spot.

Fusion has just knocked Aki Sushi and Bai Plu Thai off from my number one Sushi spot in the LBC. (Although I do at times miss their Thai food) Fusion's specialty rolls are the best around, I would say try the Jose Special or the Hungry Man. You will be happy!! Also the Mussels are a great appetizer. Service is always great and the price if fair! This is where you go for Sushi in the Long Beach!!!

Pretty fair sushi (3.5-4), but I give bonus points for lunch specials and their reward system which allows you to earn points to be redeemed at future visits like cash (they give you a card and it's tracked electronically!). Good, but not the best quality nigiri sushi. It's fushion-style, so the pull of this place are the specialty rolls. The purists that scoff at fancy rolls may not enjoy, but this joint floats my boat. The thing to get is the Crazy Lunch Combo, which gets you 5 pieces of sushi and a choice of any specialty roll ($13.99). I've enjoyed the following rolls: Lady in Red (Inside: Spicy Tuna, Outside: Spicy Albacore, Crunch Onion), Lobster Roll (lobster and avocado inside, baked lobster outside), and the Energy roll (Shrimp Tempura, Spicy Tuna ; Out: Unagi, Avocado). The rolls vary in price when ordered individually so I feel I'm getting the most for my buck when I pick the most expensive rolls. Test around, I think there's a roll out there for everyone.

My baby sister came to visit and surprised me with a trip to Fusion Sushi for no reason at all.Suhweeeet! I'd never been to this place even though its pretty close to my house. We took one of our handy dandy restaurant.com gift cards and decided to go nuts! I was shocked by the size of this place inside and the slightly stylish, yet functional ambience of this restaurant totally lost in the functional, yet non-stylish Stater Bros. strip mall. Awesomeness: 1. We didn't have to wait AT ALL even though we got there at like 8 pm. 2. The service was super quick and the staff was super attentive. 3. The food was quite tasty and there were good portions and pretty good prices. We had gyoza which was quite delicious, but how could you ever mess that up. We also got four rolls that I cant quite remember the names of, but they have a great selection of different types of rolls....except maybe a lack of salmon topped rolls, but i digress. 4. The fish was pretty fresh and the rolls were well made and delish. 5. The bathroom was adorable, all the way down to the fake burberry trash cans, precious. SADNESS: 1. We missed the amazing happy hour. Their specials were listed and i'm definitely coming back for happy hour, especially for the drinks. 2. This place was filled with 40-somethings desperate and flirting on dates which was quite depressing. 3. It took forevs to get the check. Overall, I will definitely be going back to this place, especially for happy hour and i will prolly never run out of choices to try!

The people here really know how to party! and WITH you! They have very delicious fancy schamncy rolls that I haven't seen at other sushi places I've been to. Definitely not for the sushi purists! But definitely recommended to have a small birthday celebration with lots and lots of soju!!

Fusion is definitely my favorite sushi place in Long Beach. The sushi is incredible and the prices are great. Not to mention the atmosphere and service, they always make me feel like i'm a VIP. I like Sushi Studio, but if you're not looking to break the bank and get sushi that's just as good, if not better, Fusions your place. Hot n Hot roll is my favorite. Yum.

I frequent Fusion Sushi the most on the occasion that I eat out. I am a huge sushi fan, and for the price, Fusion suits my budget while having the best tasting fish. Granted it isnt top notch, and they use a lot of sauces and twists to originals(it is a "fusion" of different cuisines) it is still really good and the place has a nice vibe to it. The sushi chefs are very lively along with some of the waitresses. I like that they give you a bowl of edamame to much on while you wait for your food(even for to go orders!!). Most places will charge you $2+ for edamame, ridiculous. If you like sushi but dont have the money to go to a top-notch place, Fusion's your place to go. Don't let the outside fool you, the inside is pretty chic and modern. Big plus: they have good lunch specials. 2 items for $7.99 & 3 for $10.50. This also comes with soup, rice, and this cucumber salad thing that all fill you up nicely. A pretty good steal if you ask me.

My parents and I love coming here for happy hour when the sushi is $1 a piece and $3 beers & sake. The sushi is good, and the rolls are not only creative but also delicious! The only thing that is disappointing is their albacore which is seared with red pepper... It is not labeled as seared which was disheartening and frustrating the first time I went there. Everything else is fabulous though, including the service! They do get a little overwhelmed during happy hour though, so be prepared to be a little patient. I would definitely recommend this place!

I recently discovered this place when a good friend took me here. Sadden by the unexpected and tragic burn-down of sister store Sushi Studio, I felt Fusion lives up to its PCH counterpart as an affordable and delicious spot for some Japanese cuisine. I was really excited about the birthday song they sang - they turn up this crazy techno birthday mix, and the entire staff (even the manager) gets into this awkward and in-your-face karaoke style dance while wishing you a happy birthday! I don't know if you get anything free though, but the special person sure was embarrassed. Try the rainbow harmony (I believe it's called) - it's an array of fresh fish and sea creatures sliced and diced for your culinary pleasures. They have some pretty good and hearty rolls - mmm, anything with avocados! It's fairly small, so parking and seating can be limited at meal times - but it's worth the wait!

Great sushi!! delicious! But i only gave four stars b/c the service wasn't so great! We waited a long time to get JUST OUR BEVERAGE... Our food came out perfect time. The check took forever!!!! Oh MY GOODNESS!! (fortunately we weren't in a rush and actually enjoyed the wait...but really.... it shouldn't take that long.) Over all I would go back... It was a happening place

I've been coming to Fusion for several years now and have watched it decline steadily. Tonite was by far the worst experience I've had there and I will definitely not be returning. Don't get me wrong, I like the vibe of this place. It's got a decent energy and the staff is friendly. The service could use some work....especially the amount of time it takes to get things ordered and brought to the table. For the most part though, my disappointment has nothing to do with the service. The honest truth is, THE FOOD SUCKS! I'm not a sushi snob in any way, but this is just a sad excuse for "fusion". The best thing I had all night was a California roll and that's not saying much! The apps we ordered were decent enough, but how can you mess up gyoza? Shu-mai tasted frozen and the wrapper was so steamed it was falling apart and slimy. The Korean style short ribs were pitifully small...for $8.50 you'd expect a decent amount, but each order came with 4 pieces about the size of 1/2 of a playing card on some wilted lettuce? WTH!?!?! If there was 1/4 lb of short rib on the plate I'd be surprised. What a joke. Then the sushi came. Aside from the aforementioned California roll, I ordered a popcorn lobster roll which used to come with plump fried pieces of crawfish. Now the roll is hard and the "crawfish" are nothing more than fried batter. Also had the Lady in Red roll which has always been my favorite roll there, spicy tuna roll with avocado topped with spicy albacore, avocado and onion straws. When they brought the plate it was literally a 1/2 lb mound of soggy fried onion strings on top of a spicy tuna roll topped off with spicy albacore which had clearly been "cooked" by the heat of the greasy onions that were piled on top. This was a travesty! Finally, I had the calamari roll which was pathetic. I didn't finish any of the rolls except for the CA roll. Like another reviewer said, if you are going to have a picture menu, at least make sure the product you are serving at least RESEMBLES the photo. I can honestly say I will never spend another dime of my money in this place which is a shame considering I've been a customer for several years. You can get MUCH better sushi for the price you pay elsewhere. I think I heard somewhere that they have changed management or ownership......clearly not a step in the right direction. Sigh......

HELL NO...I love sushi and ive been to countless number of sushi places but not something like this..the service was horrible, i mean i had to wait like half an hour to even get to talk with my server and it wasnt even busy! I had to tell the server that i want more H2O 3times. To top it all off fish was not fresh =[ It was the first time in my sushi history that I couldnt finish what I had ordered... Am I gonna come back? Hell No!

I complained and now they found out who I am so they served me a stellar mealtime treat; after I changed my review the next time I went in I got the smallest portion of Jalapeno cream cheese appetizer possible. They are definitely running a con game and even though I have to pedal further on my bicycle to go to Mammas sushi that's what has to be done. The service however is great here since they weeded out the substandard wait people but now I am done playing games with them. Good luck if you want to take your chances.

I absolutely love this place. I've been going to their other locations in Torrance and Manhattan BEach for years, but this one is bigger and better. Cornel makes a delicious "tower" with, in ascending order, rice, avocado, crabmeat, spicy tuna, and fresh wasabi (which is very hot). The garnish are 3 or 4 different smelt egg varieties and some spicy mayonnaise (too much in quantity though). Recently I tried the Disco Shrimp Roll and was equally impressed. What I like most are the gift certificates from Restaurant.com - this location accepts them, and they are always a good deal.

I don't really like sashimi but i definitely do like rolls. I came here for Mother's day and we had purchased a coupon off restaurant.com it was $50 off $100 which is a really good deal and I definitely recommend buying a coupon because sushi can get expensive! The service here is good they are all really nice. The rolls aren't too bad either. My favorite would have to be the lobster roll (i think that's what it was called...kinda behind on writing reviews as you can tell ha!) This is a pretty far drive for sushi for me but we decided to try it only for the coupon. The green tea ice cream was a bit of a disappointment tho. The ice cream was just too hard. Other than that this place is nice/clean looking and the food is decent.

I don't know what it is about this Fusion compared to the others but it is the best of the Fusion sushi chain. It is the best sushi in the long beach area. The waitresses are friendly, whether it is Sara refilling your soda when it gets low or Yeonsook shouting sake sake sake bomb! There is a great atmosphere of fun and amazing food. The sushi is big and fresh. The salmon and tuna melts in your mouth. The rolls are a great combination of taste and ingredients. My favorite roll is the Lobster roll, but you should also try the Lady in Red Roll and the Dynamite roll. You can't beat the taste. This is my sushi place of choice. My friends and I visit at least 4 times a month.

Fusion has some of the best sushi, salads and staff around. On my last visit, I was in a hurry and couldn't wait for our last roll to come. The manager personally came over and apologized and brought me and my wife some ice cream. Really great food, and great service!

I've been coming here a couple of times a month for the past year. At any time, you can find at least one or two tables with people from my company. I enjoy the 2 item lunch combo - with tax and tip, it comes to $11, so not a cheap lunch, but a nice environment. Dinner is too expensive - same food, 50% more $.

This is by far my favorite sushi place in Long Beach. I have never had anything but sushi here so this is not about the "japanese food" that is not sushi. Long Beach has the trendy chain type sushi places downtown, where the variety of fresh fish is pretty mediocre. Then there are lots of other places. While I like some of these places and intensely dislike others (Wokano and Sushi of Naples are the worst imho), this is as good as sushi gets in Long Beach. The fish is always fresh and delicisous. They always have a nice variety; e.g. they always have ankimo and one or two interesting things (e.g., sea bass or japanese snapper). Their sashimi salad is the best I've ever had. They have a "loyalty" card where you can tally up $ towards free stuff. Their prices are reasonable for the quality you are getting (I've never been there for happy hour or anything like that - I just get what I like when I go). The waitstaff is pleasant and fun, and they will drink a sake bomb with you. The head sushi chef is great and creative. This is simply my favorite place in the LBC. It's not fair to compare it to the high end omakase places elsewhere in the L.A. area, because it is not at that level (in terms of quality, variety or price). But it is great at what it does. Even though I love the place, I can't give it 5 starts because then what do you give Matsuhisha or Nozawa? Still, great at what it does.

  • Christopher C.

As a great lover of sushi for many years I would give the fish 4/5 stars. Good, some even great, but not perfect. What puts this place over the top for me is 2 items on the menu. The cucumber salad (I know it sounds boring, but try it) and the baked black cod. The baked black cod is as close as I can get to the miso butterfish I get in Hawaii. It is also very reasonably priced.

Great sushi place! My roommates and I seem to go about once a week these days. Everyone is always nice and welcoming. I have tried a few of the special rolls, like the snow cone roll, love roll, gozzilla roll, and calamari roll. I gave 4 stars because sometimes the rolls taste a little different. Maybe a different chef is making them or something. But overall, the food is delicious!

I walked in for a order of some california rolls to go, you can always tell a place is good or not by their california rolls. Two girls helped me out, seems nice and quick service. I waited about 5-10 min for my order. Place seemed real clean and nice, but got home and the rolls tasted like something you would get out of a costco package. I will not be going back here anytime soon. - Cheers

I would not have dined here if it weren't for restaurant.com's special deal. $2 for a $10 gift certificate on $20 min order. While the interior decor is modern and clean, the storefront is just plain sorry. There are large cardboard boxes covering up one side of the storefront. When we pulled up, I thought they were closed. I ordered the sushi combo for $9.99 - 5 pieces of sushi and california rolls. I was actually surprised at how big the cali roll was for a combo. The sushi was just ok. I specifically asked the waitress if the albacore was seared or not, and she told me that it was not. Of course, when it came out seared, she said, "well seared is better anyways." Umm...ok. So my parents and I were there for about 30 minutes, and during that time, both waitresses and the two sushi chefs had three sake bombs with a customer. I understand that customers want to buy drinks for the chefs, but taking sake bombs while screaming "sake sake sake" and pounding the table was just a bit too much for me. Don't get me wrong...sake bombs are fun, but don't do it while serving hot tea. It was obvious that the two waitresses were drunk...the bright red-faced one almost tripped over herself while taking a tray of food to another table. I will not be coming here again.

I would've given this place 3 stars but 2.5 stars - .5 deducted because they overcharged me for extra edamame without telling me I was actually ordering it! This is your typical Japanese food/sushi restaurant. Nothing quite spectacular or bad about it. Prices are pretty average and reasonable. Rolls are about $8+ for 8-9 pieces. Sushi rolls were small 6 pieces. I got salmon sushi for $3.99. The salmon didn't taste very soft/melt-in-your-mouth type of sushi. It was ok. Also ordered the caterpillar roll and didn't really have much unagi taste/flavor! You could barely taste the unagi. They give you a tiny bowl of edamame for appetizer. I thought I would ask for extra edamame but wasn't aware that I was actually "ordering" another side dish of edamame. They didn't tell me until after I got the bill. Boo. Service was friendly.

Found a new Sunday funday spot. Stumbled across this place as our normal Sushi Kinoya was closed. To our surprise it was Sunday Happy Hour. This place was amazing from the decor to the $3 Sapporos and the Creamy Jalapeño half price appetizer. I am in love!

i FINALLY found a satisfying sushi place near long beach-los al-cypress area!! --10% discount with student id and they also give you a card that stores points for eating there. --SO much to choose from. like seriously, i had the hardest time choosing because they had so many rolls! -__-" --decent interior atmosphere for being tucked away in a mediocre plaza --service was meh. i mean, i knew she was trying to be helpful but asking us how we were doing every five minutes?! kind of got on my nerves -___-" --no need to worry about parking --food tasted delishhhh. we had albacore salad + totally forgot what the roll was called but it's shrimp tempura inside and spicy tuna on the outside. both are recommendable (:

Went for the first time today for lunch, I had the "Sushi Mix" with the "Salmon Teriyaki". I loved the glazed crunchiness of the salmon, and the Sushi was obviously fresh. The complimentary edemame and miso soup were a bonus!! The outside of the restaurant isn't' so appealing, but the inside is beautifully decorated.

Ok, so we decided to check the place out for the first time because of the restaurants.com gift cert. I will say overall, the food was good but i wasnt extremely impressed, BUT it wasnt bad either. I was a little disappointed because it seems like the waitress was always busy but the place wasn't even packed. We had to get their attention to order our food, or dessert, get a box, get some water, and even the bill. They never came by to check on us only the bus-boy came to get empty plates often. It seemed to drag because we had to always wait for someone to come by to get something else. Actually, they seemed to pay lots of attention to the table near us because maybe they were regulars? Well, that table was having a blast doing Sake Bombs and the waitress was there chanting with them both times. So we had a party of 5 adults, and 2 children, our bill was $142 take away the $50 from the coupon, the tip & tax alone was about $30 but was including so we still ended up paying $92 bucks. Not so bad for sushi but it did seem like a lot overall considering we had a coupon. OH BTW, drinks are not included even though it doesnt say so in the coupon. Good Luck!

After reading a review in the local newspaper we decided to try out this new Fusion location on Spring St. The place was about 3/4 full with no tables left for 2 but 3 that were oddly placed in the middle of the room. We decided to sit at the sushi bar. Our waitress quickly took our beer order and returned with it promptly. That was the last time she ever acknowledged us. It was a good thing that we had too many beers during the day and decided we had hit the alcohol-wall, because frankly, we weren't going to get any beer, saki, or anything else to drink that night. The sushi was pretty good. I loved the Hot & Hot roll, a jalapeno cream cheese roll that had great flavor. Hubby ordered the Yellow Tail collar and he really liked it. We had several other standard rolls and our bill (with one large Kirin) came to $44. Not bad. I take away the star for the lack of attentiveness. It took me several minutes to lock eyes with our sushi chef to place an order, and we never did get anything more than that one beer to drink. Good thing we weren't that thirsty.

was here tonight for a birthday while visiting some family. they claim its never as busy as it was tonight, but even so the service was phenomenal! our server was the manager and it was obvious he was working his ass off to keep everyone happy. its unfortunate people can't recognize the effort that was put into serving them. the server told us that there was a burner out in the kitchen and a lot of miscommunication between them and the kitchen, so clearly something not under HIS control, yet he was taking the heat for it all :( anyways, food was excellent, service was good for the circumstances. would definitely recommend it and come here again next time i'm in the area!

A friend of mine told me about this place...it's in a strip mall, and you might not notice it. Once inside, though, it's quite nice. I just got take out and the service was incredible. Even for take out they gave me endnaname while I waited. Super pleasant wait staff. The sushi was fresh and yummy. We have been back several times since.

GREAT Selection and Awesome Decor! I've always been a die hard fan of Sushi Studio, but wanted to give this place a try. Its in a strip mall type place but once you walk inside you forget all about that. They have over 40...yes 40 specialty rolls. You can get any one of them with the lunch special along with 5 pieces of sushi and miso soup. The sushi was fresh, the Asahi was cold. You can't go wrong here. I hope plenty of people keep this place open, cause its very goooood.

We went here because it was close and it didn't disappoint. If eating a lot of sushi makes me an expert, call me an expert. I've been here three times and each time it has been good. Not the bestest ever, but good. We've always eaten at the sushi bar and, yes, the interaction with the sushi chef is good. The fish has always been fresh and the atmosphere is very good with a kind of starbucks meets sushi look. The place has never been packed, in fact, usually only a handful of people have been there when we've gone. We have gone at off times, usually during the week when we don't want to drive down to Aki Sushi on 7th and Walnut. (NOT the 7th and Redondo Aki - just to be clear!). We've ordered most of the sushi menu and have yet to find a bad one, although some of their creations are just a little out there. Stick with the basics here, grab an Asahi, and watch some sports on their nice plasmas.

This is our go-to sushi place in the LB area. The service is great, and the manager always makes a point to walk around to tables to see if everything is going well. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about their menu. The ambiance is nice. They have a frequent discount card, too.

I'm always up for some sushi...and this place was close...had a decent review so we figured we'd check it out. The service was pretty good, but we were there on a Monday night so that might have made a difference. The sushi (Philadelphia and Caterpillar rolls) and vegetable tempura were great though. I was stuffed by the time we walked out the door. The tea also comes with an orange instead of the traditional lemon. Yum!

First and last time. I disliked that I don't get my own personal plate but instead I have to share a plate with another person. The food was good but not excellent. After we had finished our dinner we stayed at the table talking and hanging out but I guess they didn't want us there. On two separate occasions a waiter came and asked us if we were done, I feel that if I payed for your food and service I can stay at my tab;e for as long as I want.

The best sushi in town. It's always fresh. This place is definitely not as expensive as most sushi restaurants. I would eat here every day if I could. The "Sweet 16" roll is to die for. Also the "Final Fantasy" appetizer. They also always have soy paper, which most sushi restaurants don't carry consistently. Can't wait to eat there again!

We were really disappointed with our last visit. Once our food was served it was like we disappeared! No one came and checked on us and the manager just stood there. We sat for at least 10 to 15 minutes waiting for our food to be cleared and to order another drink. The sushi was just okay. Not that fresh and fell apart. We usually go here and have seen a decline in the food quality and service lately. Over priced. We are looking for a new family friendly sushi place.

Situated in a plaza. The restaurant is big, with dark design. The outside doens't really give it any justice. When you get in, you get a fresh feel of the place. My first impression was wow... I like this place. Loving the comfy seats. Okay, we ordered the Hungry roll, spicy lobster roll, and the dinner special with veggie tempura, with some kind of stir fry chicken, albacore roll, house salad, and miso soup. Okay hands down... the spicy lobster roll was the bomb!! the hungry roll had everything on it that I can imagine. When you read what is on that baby, you're going to be like... dang!! It's fat when it comes out. There were shredded lobster all over it and crunchy bits of tempura. The spicy lobster roll, was actually spicy. Yeah boy!! they don't play here. I loved everything we ordered here, it's just too bad the service was just okay. They weren't really attentive. The price ranges from 10-14 a roll! Jess boo!! $14!! yup!! I guess I will have to give this place one more try. Oh BTW when you get your check it will suggest for you to tip 18% or 20% ha ha I thought it was hilarious!

The staff and chefs are all great! It is always a fun and delicious dinner whether I am with my family or a big group of friends. The booths are very comfortable and the staff is very good with my kids. The avocado rolls are always stuff with huge fresh pieces of avocado and everything is fresh and generous proportions. I love it!!!

Fusion used to be my favorite place. I live across the street and used to go there all the time. Really liked the waitstaff who were always really friendly. However, went there twice in the last couple weeks and was seriously disappointed. I think I saw one familiar face. It seems the whole staff has turned over. I agree with the previous poster that the new "manager" does make you feel uncomfortable, and the whole energy of the place has changed. I don't know if I'll be returning. Bummer...

This place is one of the better Sushi restaurants I've been to. It's definetly better than the thai-sushi restaurants around here. In any case, my favorite roll here are the Lady in Red as well as the Hot n' Hot Roll among many others. They have pretty good Sesame chicken too, I'm a fan of sesame chicken and it's decent here. Overall, not too shabby of a sushi restaurant.

I love sushi. I have eaten sushi at restaurants all over LA and OC. For the quality and the price you will not find a better place. From the outside it appears to be a typical sushi restaurant in a suburb strip mall. Of course, hidden away behind a McDonalds. One would suspect the typical Americanized sushi menu with crappy rolls and sushi chefs with names such as, "Jose" and "Enrique." But no my friends. Get ready for the tastiest sushi you've ever had. Korean owned and staffed, the chefs present every plate, and dish for that matter with perfection. The best salmon sushi. So fresh and marbled to perfection that it melts in your mouth. The Lobster roll is amazing. An orgy of flavor is the only way to describe it. Its so good that I feel somewhat guilty and dirty after I'm done much like Vegas 2003. Baked mussels are the best I've ever had. Not too much eel sauce and the chopped green onions and Siracha send you back slurping for more like a Tri-Delt during rush. I have yet to find a better spot. And they have Soju, served ice cold with fresh squeezed lemon. Which I like better then Sake. For those who don't know, its a Korean wine that is twice as strong as sake. Tastes clean and refreshing, similar to chilled vodka with lemon. Yes my sushi loving lushes, it will put you where you need to be, Salmon and Yellowtail collar are also very good. Spicy seafood soup or seaweed salad with mixed in pickled octopus are also my favorites. Just go here. The scene is simple. Real people having a good time. No fashion shows, or couples wanting to eat a place to be seen, with people to be seen with vibe. Just good people, amazingly fresh sushi fat yummy rolls and good soju cocktails and beer. Gun Bae!!!(cheers in Korean)

Is it too much to expect the wait staff know the menu? Apparently, at Fusion Sushi this is the norm. I went with my son when they first (pre-Yelp days) and did not get the lunch special that I ordered. My son's tempura tasted like it was coated with pancake batter. We left with my son saying "not going back here again" and me saying "cross this place off out list".

As a professional sushiologist I give this place 3 stars. It is edible, fresh and the rolls are creative. The sushi isnt top shelf stuff, but its tasty enough. I'd say Koi is still the best place around these parts to get some good sushi cuts, but if you have a bad sushi habit like me, places like fusion will curb the fix until you can save up the clams for the good shit.

Being a self-claimed authentic sushi aficionado, I don't like these "fusion" style sushi places. Crazy rolls are OK; just don't call them SUSHI, please, because they are not, IMHO. That's why when I walked into this place (because I had a restaurant.com coupon given to me as a gift), I was not expecting much. My bf and I were very hungry and we needed something decent quick. Boy, was I wrong! It was surprisingly good. We had three special rolls, soft shell crab appetizer, and two Sapporo's. Each roll had different unique flavor from its ingredients. They were not "mediocre fish over rice with lots of sauce on top to mask the low quality of fish" type of rolls that I often find. The Alaska roll tasted like Alaska! (Meaning that the flavor crab and salmon was so intense that if I ate it with my eyes closed, I still could have guessed the name of the roll right). Rice was flavored nicely, not too vinegary not too sweet with perfect temperature. Sushi Blossom was also good. Oil in the sauce nicely complemented the lightness of tuna on top. Soft Shell Crab was meaty and crisp. Tempura batter was a little odd looking with brownish color but fried perfectly. Everything was beautifully presented. Complementary edamame was nice touch. Service was good too. I could get what I needed from waitresses without hassle. Décor is very clean and nice, huge long sushi counters, plenty of seating, good number of customers, but we didn't have to wait at all. Price was decent, not too expensive. Even when you don't have coupon, they seem to have good special prices for non-coupon holders. For us with the coupon, it came to about $40 including tip and we were very very satisfied. Because I didn't try Nigiri style sushi, I give 4 stars for a sushi restaurant. If there was a category called "fusion roll restaurants," they got my 5 stars easily. Definitely coming back.

Bad service. You have to get attention even on slow nights. Sushi place is Korean run so not the best ingredients. Half of the sushi rolls and specials were good and half almost garbage. Don't understand how this place gets packed on the weekends when you can get better Japanese sushi in Torrance and Gardena. Hot tea I had to ask for at this place and it was Luke-warm. Brought it back microwaved.

The sushi here is really good. I was surprised, because I read the reviews and was leery, but my son wanted to go for his birthday so we did. We mostly ordered rolls, and sushi, but what we did order was fresh. The hot hot roll and the lobster roll was excellent. . The place is nice and the sushi bar has screens with the football game on (hubby was happy) The waitress and staff are nice, the place was clean, price was good. We will come again.

Ehhh. Been here twice. This place is just OK. Not the worst and definitely not the best. On the plus side: They have a nice decor, and wide selection of items on the menu, so you should be able to find something you'll like. The Blue Diamond roll was pretty good. On the negative side: We had bad service both times, which is odd seeing that the place was empty at around 7pm each time. Also, NO chopsticks/utensils at the table until AFTER the food arrived, we had to ask for them...twice! The only other thing, which I have a pet peeve about, is they give you paper napkins. Give me some damn cloth! It's doubtful I'll go back, but hey, maybe you'll have better luck than me.
